So here it is. Last night I was clearly takin advantage of by one of MD's very own "trusted" members. How am I to be safe when I can not even trust the ones who have a high positive rep, been here a long time, and are TrustWho verified?

Short story:
I contacted him last night after posting on his thread at 5:46pm. At that time, in his signature, he has his AIM screen name as Titoxbrown, which was located in his signature. Keep in mind, that was at 5:46. I sent him an aim at THAT screen name within a minute, and he went to verify that I had posted on his post, keep in mind that was all within a minutes time, so it had to be him, no gimmicks, no flukes, no hackers on his account, no nothin.
Shortly after talking to him, I told him I could get him some money, (being that he wanted 1-1000k) I then did some research on glder member, server to server gold trading, and was quick to get him 10,000g. By that time he had to leave for a basketball game, and we were not able to talk until he got back. When he got back, I told him to meet me in Org, and he said he would like it better if I spent all the money on items, and gave him those items, without even thinking, because he was so "MD trusted". So, then it turns out he is not answering my aims, and had taken off with my money.

If anyone knows what I can do about this, to possible get my money or my cash, or if there is anything at all, please help me out. My aim is grut23. Thanks

Notice times we were talking please. I have no evidince of his name change, but this is what I got.

In the future please post scammer messages in the Scammer Forum where they belong. Thank you.

Sorry for all the posts Pikey, just a little fired up.

And for the outcome, I hope he gets banned. If there is a way that Moderators or Admin can look at signature changes they will see he changed his sig

The user has been notified.

As far as the AIM sn change, if you look here, you'll see the current AIM "Tito Loves MD" in his sig AND "TitoxBrown" given in the thread.

Hostile,

Thank you for notifying me about this accusation, I wish I would have known about this sooner, but I will gladly address this now.

The users screenshots are accurate from what I saw, I compared them to my iChat logs and I didn’t see any signs of tampering.

I did, in fact, change my screen name. It was partially because this user kept messaging me, but more so, it was because of all the other scammers messaging me. My AIM account is linked to my telephone, and to have messages every couple of minutes bothering me late at night, I decided to go back to the days of having a MD AIM name, and a personal AIM name.

I’m not quite sure how to structure my response, whether to get right to the point, or establish from his conversation that he never had the gold. I think the latter will suffice.

Shortly after this person messaged me, he expressed that “well depending on the wait, I can probably get you anywhere from 10-20k?”. I told him I would pay $20/per 1k. He then stated “Ok, well, Ill start saving it. Ill catch ya whenever i can to drop ya some off”. Which would imply he didn’t have the gold for trade, and that he would have to farm it. Then twenty minutes later, he says “ok, I should have about 10k in less than 20 minutes”, and that’s when I start getting weary, but I kindly instruct him I will be gone for a few hours. Then right as I was leaving for basketball, he magically has “10k waiting for” me, but I again just say I’ll be on later that night after my game of streetball. He then urges to do it right away, but this strikes me as odd that someone who was going to have to farm it, somehow found 10k in 30 minutes. However, I still gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking that perhaps he purchased 10k for cheaper that $20/1k just to turn around for a minor profit, but I figured if I let him wait, if he was a scammer he wouldn’t be there when I returned home several hours later.

I had received a few messages from him on my phone before I got home, so I knew he was still waiting. I finally got home and proceeded with this guy. I would like you to re-read the conversation, at no point did I say I preferred the guy to buy items, in fact, he was the one that brought it up, and I was perturbed at the thought of having to sell 10k worth of items (he mentioned prismatic chards and voids).

I got into the game, and looked on the AH, and knowing he wanted to buy items to trade, instructed him to purchase the epic gems on the AH. The chat logs will show that he offered to show the 10k, but I never saw it,

He said in iChat that he bought all consumables, and that’s exactly what he showed me. He put up Super Rejuvenation Potions. And at this point he whispered me exclaiming “Send me $200 to my paypal, or I will report you to a GM, and make a post that youre a scammer”. I close trade (I should have accepted the potions at least), exit the game, and ignore his messages on AIM. When I logged off of WoW he went on to say in iChat “ok, that's all, [email protected] is my paypal, 200$ there please, get it?”

I didn’t think he would actually follow through with his claims, but obviously, we are here now. I love how he even got TrustWho to appear more credible. I hope you can find the inconsistencies in his post/story.

Last thing I noticed was “I told him to meet me in Org, and he said he would like it better if I spent all the money on items, and gave him those items, without even thinking, because he was so "MD trusted". So, then it turns out he is not answering my aims, and had taken off with my money.” I didn’t say I would like it better if you spent it on items, because then I would 1. Have to resell EVERYTHING and 2. Probably lose quite a bit of it due to AH fees. This is illogical and a waste of my time. Additionally, you state that I took off with your money, I thought you said you traded me items?

Anyways, I’m sorry I’m not a 14 year old kid who is scared by a blackmailing [censored]. Perhaps one of the other 5 people in your AIM screenshots fell for it, but I wasn’t going to be one of them. Nor would I risk losing my reputation on MD for some measly gold. I have made too many large transactions on this website to be tempted to steal some gold. If it was in my nature to steal, I wouldn’t wait two years to do it on a small transaction.

I’m sorry I didn’t get to this sooner.

Regards,

TitoBrown

The funny thing is, he is continues to lie through his teeth.

I did indeed show him the 10k, and shortly after bought server epic gems, and other consumables.

Items:
-Don't exactly remember what epic gems (all 200+ gold)
- x4 Golden Spell threads
- x4 Nethercleft Leg Armor
- 264G cash

Believe me when I say, I did trade him 10k gold in items, and the reason I gave him all items is solely because i had never tried to sell that much gold, and did not know if such a large amount would look suspicious in one trade.

Also, the trade took 4 trades to complete it all, all of them full except for the 4th trade.

This guy is trying to sell everyone his FAKE story, and if your AIM is linked to your cell phone, why not shut off aim on it? And why not respon to me after I tell you to send the money? That was odd, If I really did not give you 10k would you not question why I would tell you to send the money? And where the hell did you pull super rejuvination potion from? And in AIM you can tell I was in a hurry because I had girlfriend aggro. Your story is a bit off buddy.

Please see this guy as using his rep for his own profits, he took advantage of me, a new interested member of MD. So please, take him for what he is, a scammer.

Not taking sides but is it possible that you traded with the wrong person, org is pretty busy...

Also as a side note: from personal experience blizzard is pretty good about restoring gold if you make a ticket claiming it went missing.

There is no way I traded the wrong guy. I made sure everytime I traded it was with the same rogue. If you look you can even see that I asked him if it was him and he said yes.

For that they look at your ip at the time of the trade, and I as home. thanks fo the advice though.

I really find it hard to believe that you were able to trade him 10,000 gold worth of items in only 4 trades... I mean x4 Golden Spellthread and x4 Nethercleft Leg Armor cant sell for more than 4,000 gold... and if you bought BT Gems you would have to buy at least 25 of them to make up 10,000 gold. And in the end that would be over 24 items(each trade is 6 items each) so Id like to know how you were able to trade him 10,000 gold in items >_> as far as I know the BT Gems arent stackable

BT/MH Gems are stackable if they're the same type and uncut.

This is indeed difficult to figure out.
Grutledger you emailed me in regards to your negative.

I'm sorry I cannot help you with that because I wasn't there.

I suggest both of you try to work it out.
