Hi,

I bought an account from a guy on the 17th of February this year, he has now recalled the account from me. I got his ID and contact details when I bought the account and I know he recalled because once I rang up blizzard they said that somebody already sent in a scan of the ID to retrieve the account.

The account is now locked again and needs a justice of the peace to stamp the form that needs to be filled out this time.

So, what are my options? I have a scanned copy of his ID, his home phone number and mobile number. I range the numbers and as soon as I explained who I was he instantly hung up.

What can I do in this situation?

Beating him up probably won't get your account back. I'm assuming this stamp is some kind of offical government seal that would obviously need to be done by the original owner in person. If this is so then your options are really limited. I'd hate to have to say it but you may not have any real options in getting the account back. Just try to reason with the original owner again by phone. At this point it is probably your only option. Sorry this has happened to you.

Tell the police. It's theft and you can prove it. I know it's against Blizzards terms to sell accounts but that doesn't mean it's not a crime to steal it back once you've sold it. You've not commited a crime breaking blizzards terms so why not tell the police?

Chargeback your money, if you can't, nothing can be done you lose, unfortunately

and, the police won't do anything i'm afraid, its been to long, and you can't prove he recalled it

Small claims is an available alternative. First step you need to take is file a police report. I am not sure this would work for you, as you might not be able to prove 100% that he is in fact who sent you the ID. A lot of local law enforcement have become savvy to these sort of scams and their computer theft departments have heard of this before, and know how to track and deal with these sort of criminals.

Locally, I file a police report and they request the IP's from Blizzard that were used to log into the account. If the same IP pool that was used prior to their sale to you, which I assume was done via paypal or in some way documented the exchange of funds from one party to another and for what, then it is a simple matter for them to prove.

Verification wise the hardest part is proving that you purchased the account from the person whose ID you have.

I vote you beat him up but the other options are viable. I'd do what a lot of people do, that is call till you know you have a weak represenative from blizzard and come up with a legit, mature story. Normally works for me.
