Hello everyone,

I am not normally a reader of this forum (as I play Everquest 1) but I am posting as a warning to any people here who have had/considering having dealings with a member called Vdraeya, whom I noticed posts here quite a bit to buy and sell characters.

My story is this. In June of this year I paid Vdraeya 450 dollars plus transfer fee for a lvl 70 Everquest 1 cleric on Ebay. Up until yesterday…all had been fine, but then I try to log them and the password has been changed. So I contact SOE CS with the “original information” I had been given. Vdraeya had told me they had been the sole owner of this account, but the CS agent told me the information I had was incorrect, and confirmed that a call had been made earlier that day to “retrieve” the account.

I have tried contacting Vdraeya via MSN and email, and received no replies..so I tracked them down to this forum via the email addresses I had for them, and learnt that they are posting here under the name Vdraeya – PM’d them, re-explained the situation, and finally persuaded them on to MSN, at which point they claimed to not understand how this could possibly happen and persisted in saying they had given me the original information.

It therefore appears that Vdraeya has retrieved this account (I prefer to say stolen), which I paid rather a lot of money for, and that there is nothing I can do about it because the original information they gave me was false.
I suspect they have taken this account at this point because the 6 months transfer rule is almost up, and they are looking to transfer it to sell it again, and want to provide the transfer option to some unsuspecting customer.

Hence my reason for posting on these forums: I may not be able to do a lot about my account, but I wish to warn anyone who may have bought an account from this person recently or is thinking of doing so. I have never played WoW so I am unsure what kind of original information it is usual to obtain from the seller, but based on my experience, there is a strong possibility that information may be fake, leaving you open to having your account stolen at some point in the future.

What particularly riles me is that having read Vdraeya’s posts on this forum, they seem to complain a lot about various “scammers”, and paste reams of evidence against these people…which in light of my experience, screams pure hypocrisy.

So anyone who has had dealings with this seller, please be forewarned; sorry for the long post, feel free to PM me on this issue.

Thanks

Re: Scammed by seller Vdraeya: pls read if you have bought an acct from the

My CC was the only CC ever used on the account. It's how i paid for the character transfer for this customer, it was tied to the account for more than a year. I gave this customer the first and last four digits of my CC #, which i was very uncomfortable with but went ahead and provided anyways for his security. According to him, Sony is telling him that my CC was never on the account. However, when i call they verify that the CC was on the account but the SQ/A has been changed, and also there was an incident back a few months ago where my billing information was still tied to the account, they billed me - and this fellow reimbursed me.

I never had any interest in stealing this account back from this guy, nor to my knowledge would i or anyone else have been able to. He had all the vital information to the account, including CD keys, CC #'s, original email and phone number, etc.

When he contacted me, i got back to him as soon as possible and i offered to call sony myself. I did so, and they verified my CC # was on the account, but there was another CC # on the account which i could not verify for them.

I've only ever paid for the account with one CC #. I only own one CC. The SQ/A for the account was changed, meaning the person who did this had my CC #. There is only one person aside from me who has the information available to do this, and this is Allan himself.

I'm not suggesting Allan would go around stalking people trying to trace them down after 6 months of a transaction being completed being a satisfied customer... that would be crazy. What i'm suggesting is that someone in Allan's personal life has gained access to the information through him and changed the SQ/A and put a different credit card on there, and that is the # that sony wants.

There is no previous credit cards to the one i gave him, so i don't see what he wants from me. I spent hours trying to assist him with this but i'm just about done since he is so staunchly refusing any assistance.

It's been 6-7 months - you guys aren't gonna see me selling an EQ account because i don't HAVE an EQ account. -_-

Oh and he claimed my CC#'s were innacurate, i offered to show him via webcam, taping off the part in the middle to prove that it does in fact exist. I also offered to screenshot my bank account window @ the webpage and black out parts that are confidential to prove that i was in fact being billed by sony for the account for an extended period of time, that i did pay for the transfer via that method, and that i paid for several expansions via that method.

However, i haveto wonder about a person that suddenly claims the information i gave them was innacurate when they've been using the account for 6-7 months and had obviously verified it within that time frame. There are several possibilities here and NONE of them are pretty

1. Someone is walking around with my first and last four digits of my CC, and using them to gain access and hold access to the account via adding another CC and using that number

2. Allan himself is pushing for a refund because he wants 450 $ AND my account, and is using his OWN CC # in addition to mine to lock the account

or

3. Sony made a [censored]

-shrug-

There isn't anything else i can do for this customer as i've tried and tried to get him to listen to me, spent hours on the phone with Sony, and would still be willing to spend more time trying to help him if only he would stop being so ridiculously rude to me.

We've worked out what happened, basically the sony CR he talked to was incorrect - he called back and verified with them that my CC was in fact tied to the account, and that i had been the original owner. We figured out that the account theft has occured from someone aside from the two of us, due to a really stupid loophole in sony's account recovery system. We are unable to retrieve it but we've made some arrangements for reimbursement. He will be posting here later to confirm this for you guys.

That's all she wrote.

Yes this matter has been resolved between the two of us, and seems to have occurred as a result of the way SoE assigns original ownership to an account upon which a gamecard has previously been used. Even if myself and Vdraeya were to provide SoE with all the billing, names etc we have between us, it seems it wouldn't make a bit of difference.
I thank Vdraeya for their efforts and the time they have taken in trying to resolve this matter.
