I've recently been asked by two parties to be a middleman in their account trade. One party is looking to purchase an account, and the other is selling. I am not an official EpicNPC middleman, but my reputation for online transactions is quite good due to my successful enterprise Home | elokings.net and work with League of Legends Elo Boosting.

Both parties know me through my website and have asked me to oversee their trade. I just wanted to ask a few questions of the staff here to make sure I know what to expect:

1 - As the middleman, I understand that I am facilitating the money transaction from the buy to the seller, and the account information transfer from the seller to the buyer. Beyond that point am I right to assume that I am not liable for anything that happens beyond that point? (i.e once the buyer receives his account info and the seller receives his payment, my part in the trade is considered complete?)

2 - Not being an official middleman of this site, am I allowed to use EpicNPC as our trading post to send and receive messages from and to both parties so we have documentation for the trade taking place?

Thank you for taking the time out to answer my questions. I appreciate the helpfulness of the staff and admins here.

You can offer the service to them, however you may not do so in the Middleman section of the forums.

You are not liable for issues that arise between people, However, putting yourself in the position to MM their payments puts you as risk for disputes and chargebacks. When I offered MM services I refused to handle the payment portion as too many people make poor choices days and weeks down the road and I did not want that to be my problem or take up a lot of my time dealing with.

You will however be called upon from time to time to assist users you have MM for in opening disputes and so forth and so on.

You should also keep in mind scammers will use you regardless of their intentions in the future to recall or dispute, and at some point you will need to discern between who you wish to deal with and who you do not.

That's my primary concern. I'll be upfront with what worries me. Due to the finicky nature of League of Legends accounts being so easy to recover by the original owner, once the Buyer receives the account information if weeks or months down the line he claims that the original owner has recovered the account will I be at risk for a dispute against me?

I am willing to help facilitate the initial trade, but do not want to be held accountable for reimbursing the buyer if a possible account recovery takes place in the future.

The law of nature puts you at risk for dispute at any point, what can go wrong will.

The smart idea is to make a fresh paypal (paypal allows you one for personal and one for business) so that it does not effect your personal shopping or anything currently tied to your account.

That being said, if you are discerning with the people you help, your risk is minimized significantly.

I laid out what I do and do not do and it's helped reduce the "traffic" I get as a MM.

I was getting 10+ requests a day and I would never want to be responsible for tracking all of that payment information.

But yes, as Geek stated, you may MM if people come to you but you cannot advertise in the MM section.

Sorry about my miscommunication Geek. The payment itself isn't what worries me as I am taking payment in the form of either MoneyPak or Western Union so there is no possibility of a chargeback.

My concern is if weeks from now the buyer contacts me saying that the account was recovered and he decides to open a scammer report against me on EPICNPC will I be responsible for him at that point or will my obligations have been fulfilled? I am always willing to help a buyer with his dispute, but I am concerned if one is opened against me because at that point I will already have paid the seller his share of the payment so I won't have any leverage if the seller decides to reclaim.

I do not know either party well enough, only that they were customers of mine in the past. I am concerned for my safety here on EpicNPC above all else.

You're not responsible for anyone's account but your own. However you won't get any business if you only take MP/WU.

Once the information has been transferred to the buyer, you should stay online with them to confirm they have secured the account and changed the info to their own. Once that happens you will not be liable if anything happens to the account as only the original owner would have the ability to recall it.
