Is it my fault? Do I need to give a refund? HELP!

Hey MD

I am having my first issue with an account ever before and trying to figure out if it is MY fault and if I need to give a refund.

2 Weeks ago I sold an account to someone for 500$.

In the paypal transaction I put exactly what I was selling and I asked him if he understood the consequences of trading when I am not OO. He said he understood I was not OO. Both of us do not disagree about this.

Here is the problem:

The buyer said he understood I was not the OO.
He had never reported any issues about the account.
Tonight (2 weeks later) the account was flagged and an email was sent to him that asked for the ID.
He told me that he let his friend who lived in the same area (different IPs still though) play on it.
Also, he said he had his druid banned the same way before - with this email.
I also do not know what else went on in the two weeks I did not have the account. I have yet to have a problem with any of the accounts I have sold or traded.

I understand his position, and I believe he understands mine.

At the moment, I do not have 500$ to refund him. I do have a 4 piece T6 Lock which is better then the account he bought from me. I am willing to give him this account if need be, however, I do not want to just give this lock up for something I did not do. You know what I mean?

What is the correct and legit thing to do?

Here is another reason why I believe he was at fault:

To my understanding Blizzard cannot 'chain' ban. Ie. find one account / ip is doing something wrong so they ban any account associated with that IP or email.

He told me that his shaman was banned the same time the account I gave him was banned (NOTE i have never seen / touched the shaman account). Why would both be banned if I was at fault at the same time?

I would like to Say..I know for a Fact My shaman was not Banned for the Same Reason & Time as the Priest..I'm looking at E-mail Dates

Thu, 5/15/08 3:28 PM < Priest
Tue, 3/12/08 1:57 PM < Shaman

Even If he is not OO he Should

A: Contact OO for ID and Fax it in
B: Refund Me 400-500$
C: Compensate me with a another Account Equal or Lesser Gear

I just don't wanna be out here.
and there is no way in hell a 300yrd IP Change Banned this Acct.

I mean Come on...I've gone on Vacation 1000 Miles of my House and Logged on wow...I mean For god sake I Recently went to North Korea to Visit my dad and I still played..and non of them were banned

And BTW the Druid Was not Banned...I was Telling you i have a bud in TX who plays my Druid often and it hasn't been Warned or Banned

Ok you told me that they were banned the same day...

then you change the story when I told you I dont think blizzard bans all accounts on the same email/ip because one account did something wrong....

Regardless what are you doing on the shaman that gets it banned then 3 days later gets the other toon banned?

hmmm ....

why are TWO toons getting banned in the same week anyways if it was my fault...

BintoMan (7:40:20 AM): I looked at my e-mails closer..they didn't get banned the same day

Please L2Read

And 1 Thing the Lock = Priest

There gear is almost the same..

Locks Wep < Priests Wep...Other then that there all pretty much the same

And have You ever heard of a Bad Dealer?
Maybe thats why the Shaman Was banned?

BintoMan (12:29:46 AM): My shaman was banned for being linked to the same e-mail
BintoMan (12:29:57 AM): and IP

Before that you told me your shaman was banned because of the priest. I stupidly did not save that convo. Yet, people should be able to interpret what you said from the convo above.

Shaman banned because of link - you are saying just in that convo your shaman was banned after or around the same time as priest if they linked them to the priest i sold you.

TBH, That whole thing about multiple logging ips only matters when it's 2 different countries, me and my mates share accounts and we jus [censored] log each other out whenever we feel like it and lol! Sometimes we actually do it for Fun.

SO 300yard IP [censored] cannot be the reason why.

Whenever u do trades. It's always best to get the ID.
So what i think is.. You should try to contact the guy who owned the account to get u an id.
If this isn't possible the only way is to give him a acc of equal gear i guess...

I know how it feels like to buy an account and have it banned a few weeks later. so..

=\
Try ur best to get the account back first before deciding on a refund/giving another account

Well, if this was a case where Blizz banned because of "Billing" that probably means that he used the same email for all of his other accounts. That is how Blizz catches people who buys accounts. This isn't your fault. If it was a Ip issue that still isn't your fault. But, you should try to help by trying to contacting the OO even though you didn't buy from the OO. Let him know you'll do everythign you can to help him get his account back, which you should. If you have another character, see if he's interested to buy it for cheap since you feel bad give him a deal on it. Work something out and you'll be fine.

Banned - failed to resolve scam thread - http://vbforums.mmobay.net/scammers/407058-scammer-blackmeth-levalon-aim-oursmithfamily05.html
well.. to be honest.. i've had 3 accnts that got banned in less than 30 days.. i give full refund or give them a equal toon or close.. but when compensating.. pve and pvp dont' matter.. flyers dont' matter.. it's plain out GEAR!..
on 2 of my occassions i beleive they were botting/gliding/farming gold.. but no proof..so i traded.. but i wont' EVER deal with them again.. NEVER!! but it's your choice.. i mean.. selling or trading with out id.. means you both share responsibility.. but.. choice is yours..i would refund or trade if he accepts.. trade.. i mean you can say no.. but.. it shows that once the accnt leaves you.. you wipe your hands.. which hurts in future sales..

Not your FAULT

To me what it sounds like is he may have changed the email to an email he's used for various accounts. Therefore Blizzard may have a way of scanning information etc. and sees that he has numerous, non-matching name, accounts on one email. So my guess is we'll call him John Smith and his email is [email protected]. If John has 2 accounts with different info linked to that email one's John smith and one John Harrison they'll want to question why.
Just a guess but regardless if his other account and the one you sold him got banned I don't see a connection between you and the ban.. Therefore enjoy whatever you spent that money on.
