How much information should I provide to Paypal for un-authorized payment claim?
Ok I have encountered a problem that costs me a lot, and I need experienced traders to help me solve this problem.
I recently sold a large amount of gold to 1 person with a verified Paypal account, total worth of 700usd. Here is the steps I do to ensure the buyer is legit which apparently is not enough:
- After I received payment, I checked whether the buyer has verified Paypal account. (Because the old link on how to check if someone is verified no longer works, I was unable to make sure when the account was created)
- The payment made was by using Friends & Family options in paypal.
- On the note, I told the user to include name of the char and server for gold recipient.
- I sent an email to buyer's paypal email address stating that the purchase was made for specific item and specific amount and have the buyer send it back to me confirming about the purchase.
- After all was done, I proceed with the delivery.
- While on the delivery, I video recorded the gold delivered and make sure the recipient's in game name is the same one as being stated on Paypal's note.
Everything went well after several days, Paypal notified me that the buyer has filed un-authorized payment claim to my Paypal account.
Now, I know that Paypal doesn't cover protection for the virtual goods purchase and I most probably will lose the case. (Paypal closed my case within 30 mins after the un-authorized payment claim was made and every fund ever sent by the buyer was refunded back to the buyer.)
Now I'm attempting to contact Paypal to provide all the evidence I have obtained during the purchase and I have several questions:
1. How much information should I provide to Paypal? email proof, chat history, video or all of them? but even then will they still be able to help me?
2. If the steps on how I do the transactions unable to protect me from scammer, how do I improve my systems further to protect me?
3. Has anyone ever win case like this with Paypal?
4. The buyer told Paypal that the account was hacked while I have the proof that the buyer sent me an e-mail confirming about the purchase. Will it be enough? cause it seems to much of a coincidence for someone to hack into buyer's Paypal account along with the buyer's email account.
The only flaw I see is, I didn't ask the buyer post about the purchase to be made prior to payment into my thread and check his IP location.
Please help!
