Offers an account for trade, I ask for specs of it. He says he has a picture, I connect, and he sends a file named "ffxi account.exe". Just a heads up for anyone thats trading that may not know this, if someone sends you a .exe file and claims its FFXI account information, DO NOT OPEN IT! Chances are it will log your Playonline Information, or possibly malaciously take information from your computer, and you soon may be a victim of fraud, or even identity theft. If I wouldn't have closed the IM window in disgust, I'd post it. But after I he sent it, and I told him I knew it was a way to steal my account, he quickly signed off. IMO a very un-intelligent scammer.

BEWARE OF HIM, DO NOT OPEN .EXE FILES FROM HIM! OR ANYONE ELSE VIA AIM, ONLY OPEN .JPG .GIF(IMAGE FILES) ect.

Just for the record, I wouldn't accept .jpg or .gif files either as it's now possible to embed malicious software inside those too. Either way you should be running with a virus scanner at all times any ways.

can people send you stuff when you direct connect to them on AIM? or do you have to accept the actual file transfer?

You have to actually accept the transfer. If you do it accidently it's usually not a problem as long as you delete the file right away without trying to open it.

It was sent via direct connect. Claimed he was "showing me a picture of the account". You can't accept it, it just goes automatically in the aim conversation, but isn't stored on your computer unless you save it or open it.

Ahh.. then you should get rid of AIM and use Trillian instead. It doesn't do that.
