zdjmathew - wowguys scam / traded with me on a compromised account

He contacted me regarding 100k gold he wanted to purchase. I sold him the gold, I received payment.

A few days later my account gets banned. I call blizzard and they tell me the account I sold to was a "compromised gold distributing account".

I understand the risk involved in trading gold, but what he didn't tell me is what I am concerned about. He concealed the fact that he was trading on a "already compromised account" which automatically puts my account in jeopardy.

I have dealt with ZDJMathew several times and he always ends up listening to what the mods have to say, he is a stand up guy and has not let me down in over a year of using him.

St George have you tried to tell blizzard that your account has been compromised yet?

That is probably the first course of action you should take, contact them telling them you were hacked and you don't know what they are talking about with gold distributing and just play dumb.

Yes. I've tried every angle of getting the account back. They have a new system that is very cut throat towards this type of situation.

I don't think zdj understands what I am saying.

I don't need anymore people to post on the thread after he asks them to. He doesn't want to face this situation so he's trying to get out of it by saying "im the seller".

There are always risks associated with buying gold, zdj might not have even known if Blizzard was keeping tabs on the account. I can be sympathetic but when you buy gold you should know the risks involved; if you arent willing to take those risks, dont buy/sell gold.

ZDJ Contacted me via aim after he saw my post, pretty much what he explained to me is that like the post above, he did not recall the payment even though the gold was removed - honestly this is kind of a double edged sword situation because:

OP trades gold to ZDJ> ZDJ pays $100 USD for the gold> OP's account gets banned for distributing gold AND ZDJ loses the gold due to that

Like Kascada said, you pretty much assume risk for both parties when buying and selling gold, although they are not clearly define you know it is against WoW ToS and know if you get caught what risk has been assumed.

Good luck whatever the decision may be, I say be happy with the $100 because ZDJ should have recalled it but as I said earlier, he is a stand up guy and feels it is better to help you out even though he lost it.

Like I stated earlier, you knew and assume risk when trading someone 100k gold, it sets off flags and gets looked into, they are a multi billion dollar company and have the best in the industry writing codes... Warden is probably one of the most complex programs ever written. Try and sell in smaller quantities or do things through guild banks and the auction house through several accounts even though it might lose you 5k through fees or something, it is better to have $95 and an account than $100 and no account right?


(I am NOT a mod this is not a decision in any way shape or form, my experience is just from selling accounts for quite a while with a 0% recall rate and NO bans)

Im curious, you seem to believe he knew blizzard was watching him, so my question to you is, What benefit would it be to him to buy gold on an account when he knows he's being watched? From what I can see there is no gain to him doing that. You may be upset that your account was banned, but he hasnt reversed the payment he made to you. He lost money and gold, you lost the account.

Unless there something else, I dont see this to be a scam issue, there are always risks with stuff like this.

How exactly is he supposed to know blizzard is watching his account? They dont send you an email saying "hey were watching you, dont buy or sell gold right now" Doesn't happen like that.

Im closing this. There is always a risk in buying/selling gold and the buyer should not be responsible if the seller account gets banned.

Michael Jordan you'll get 2 infraction posts for every scam thread violation from now on.
