Here's how it goes: The SCAMMER contacts 2 people, (SELLER & BUYER) He gets the seller to sell him something (TOON or GOLD) at the same time he is getting the BUYER to buy the same item he is trying to buy from the SELLER. Then the SCAMMER has the BUYER pay for the item he just got from the SELLER. Then at the same time the SCAMMER is the one who picks up the GOLD or TOON in the game. Neither the SELLER or the BUYER knows this is going on until the BUYER doesn't get his gold or item, and files a charge back against the SELLER thru PAYPAL.
I'm not sure if this is a new type of scam, or if it's been out for awhile, but it is new to me.
Here's how you stop this from happening to you!!
First, always insist on getting the buyers phone number. Take the area code and run a check on what state it is from. Then call it! Make sure the person you are selling to answeres the phone. Then when the buyer gives you the Paypal Info check to see if the address you're are shipping the item to is the same state of the area code the buyer supplied. If not then don't do the sale! BUYERS, you can use this same method to make sure the person selling you the item isn't using a hacked/stolen Paypal account to get your money.
I know you sellers want to make cash, and don't won't to lose sales. And I know you buyers don't want to go thru so much shlt to get what you're buying, but. Believe me, this protects both the seller and the buyer.
