hi there, i have been using this site a lot during the pass 4 months and even tried my hand at account selling since there are a lot of cheap accounts in circulation here.
at first everything was going ok i bought a few cheap accounts for about $15 each and was able to resell them for $30 not bad at all i thought so i tried buying more, eventually i ended up getting scammed but since it was for $15 it wasn't a big deal
i wasn't familiar with the trade guardian feature at the time and after that i started using it when ever i was buying accounts with only a few exceptions.

as time went on i started buying more and more expensive accounts and utilizing TG but i soon learned that even when one took the precautions and use TG you would eventually run into scammers.
one day a buyer i sold a account to came to me with a complaint the account i sold him when gone, freaking out i contacted the seller i bought it from only to find out that the seller had been ban my only option
was to take the L and refund the buyer.

not long after that another buyer came forward, the account i sold them i bought for $170 was able to resell it to him for $300 was recovered now i had to refund that $300 and take another L because you guest it the seller i bought the account from was ban and
since 85% of sellers here only accept FnF payment from paypal there's pretty much nothing you can do once you've been scammed.

oh, not long after that i logged into a account i bought a weeks later only to find a message from someone claiming to be the accounts owner i message them back in the game and told them to come to epicnpc to clear this up
after making a account here they message and was able to prove they were in fact the owner of the account so naturally i had to give them back the account, when i reach out to the seller i got it from they said they sold me a working/good account
and there was nothing they could do so the mods kindly ban them.

at this I've lost around $700+ on here not to mention the amount i have refuned to my buyers from the accounts that have been recovered, after dealing with he scammers for the pass 4 months i have gotten pretty good at identifying them and have
pointed out potential scammers before they even have time to scam anyone whoever everytime i have done this i get hit with a and am paraphrasing here "we have no proof that guy is a scammer so we cant really do anything" and of course 1 to 2 weeks later that
user is ban for scamming having sold 10+ accounts who will most likely just get recovered not only that but that same scammer will make a new account and ill try to flag them only to face the same results again

for example one of the scammer
https://www.epicnpc.com/members/kuifill.1477035/

that got me for $470+ have been ban 3 times as of today

https://www.epicnpc.com/members/bluebabyface.1489484/
https://www.epicnpc.com/members/deastra.1494833/
https://www.epicnpc.com/members/annarchy.1497051/

he already have a new account and is posting already btw.

i have been trying to warn other members without extending to much as to not get flag myself but to no avail.

we have to do better on this front please, am sure everyone know the risk of buying accounts but i feel like a lot of the scamming on here could be prevented if the mods had the power to act on leads from creditable members
right now in the genshin impact NA forum i can identify at least 5 scammers if i were to try and get them flag not even ban but to have the "trade with caution" waring to show up on their account i cant even do that and about this time next week they will have sold 10+ accounts will be recovered before getting ban robbing unexpected buyers only to make a new account to repeat that process again.

i first found this site in Oct 16, 2020 my first purchase was a honkai account and i loved it i eventually resold the account here
https://www.epicnpc.com/threads/wha...ount-all-herrschers-and-many-outfits.2050523/

my next transaction was a genshing account and when i try to resell here i got scammed and they made off with my account that one was on me i didn't really know how things work that well not gonna lie till this day i still miss that account lol
https://www.epicnpc.com/threads/na-...ning-gunyu-amos-bow-c5-mona-and-more.2050107/

after losing that account i started lurking on the genshin NA forum buying a selling accounts, I've learned a lot from being on here the most important thing being there are a lot of absolutely terrible people that will not hesitate to take advantage of you
but thought-out all of that i didn't get upset with my short comings but use every one of them as a opportunity to improve.

so to get to the point here, the reason am making this post is i feel like epicnpc is not doing enough to protect its community from scammers
i fully understand you cant just go around ban people on blind speculations but we cant with until after the fact to take action
just adding the "trade with caution" tag accounts that have been reported by long time creditable members would go a long way on this front.

also how are scammers creating new accounts i thought you guys didn't allow that! even if they use a vpn i assume that would trigger something to insta ban them but i don't anything about that kind of stuff so i have no suggestions
anyway if you made it this far what are your thoughts on the matter? i have stop buying accounts at this point its not really worth it anymore and any that i still have i am hold for 3month before i sell them just to avoid selling some poor guy/girl a bad account.

resell account for profit always come with risk, it doesn't matter how it will be, even if you buy cheap starter on taobao and resell to here, you still will got some scammers

that's why selling account that reroll or produced by yourself is better and safer

for payment using paypal, just avoid it if you are legit seller, just use different payment, for me, I prefer use wise where buyer need verify account and document to be able use wise, and seller must use their own bank account to receive payment (not receive use wise account / email)

buyer need real and legit seller information to send payment to their bank account, so if seller try to scam, buyer can report the seller

meanwhile seller won't have risk to deal with scammer or credit card stolen by buyer, because buyer need submit document to verify identity to use wise

i use to reroll "actually played multiple accounts" but i would of lost my sanity if i kept that up, i really hated the game after a while even now i dont play on my main account for too long i do daily and get the heck out lolz
am not sure how i feel about giving me bank info to people on here, someone did suggest using
wise as a payment method but since i have never heard of it i assumed it was some fishy app.
ive used paypal for over 11 years even tho it sux i feel comfortable using it, the one bank transfer i did i use paypals xoom and that account got recovered xoom doesn't even give you a option to open disputes

Account buying is just risky business on any forum, website, etc. It is always best to buy from someone who is reputable or someone who is willing to give up personal information to sell their account.

Don't get me wrong though, some reputable members still do scam so you always have to make your own best judgment when buying an account from someone. You live and you learn so just take what you've learned and apply for the rest of your trades.

right you are my friend, before becoming a regular member of epicnpc i did not know how much scammers were out there
I've definitely learned a lot from my experience here.

Sorry for butting in, but just a suggestion maybe having a mandatory identity verification would make this safer for all?

The reason we don't ban them is that some users have used that as a way to get rid of competitors, which is why we need evidence that they are scamming or have previously banned accounts. We do look into the report and the person being reported, however if we can't find anything and the person reporting them has not given any evidence then we can't really do anything. We do not know if this is simply a report against a scammer or a report against competition. As stated above account buying/selling is always a risky business. Account recalls can happen regardless if it is a new member or a veteran member. Most of the scammers have been doing this for years and will always find ways to benefit off others that aren't as experienced. If we find people making new accounts or using VPNs to ban evade we ban them instantly. Regardless how good a security measure is online there will always be ways to go around it.

This would make it safer but would basically kill the website. If we forced every user to ID verify majority would not do it or would not have the means to do it.

At the very least you're bringing the individuals to attention and preventing someone else from being scammed by the same user. It's not the greatest of W's, but it's better than absolutely none at all I suppose.

supercell recently added this great feature (account protection) in their games
this feature will prevent sellers or previous owners from recovering the account
you activate it with your phone number and recovery codes then your account can only be recovered with:
  • Verification codes sent to your phone
  • Recovery Codes

I have to 2nd this! Adding a recovery code system would negate the risk of sellers recalling accounts and protect the buyer from a devious scam pullback. @wankey12 makes a valid point with this with the recovery codes being sent via the buyer's phone so only they may recovery the purchased account. Unfortunately, account recalls are a thing, but this idea may be a solution but not the permanent solution due to scammers always finding ways to get around stonewalls, so recovery codes would be nice if we found a way to use it against the typical scammer.

RECOVERY CODES
These are codes that get sent to the account owners' phone which is a set of numerical or syntactical set of characters that only the owner can see and if they wish to recover the account, they would be able to use one of these codes to do so, It's a great way layer of security on a account. @wankey12 is not off from the solution. To stop recalls we need to stop the scammer from even being able to recall the account in the first place so if we found a way to get the buyer to enable recovery codes but the scammer wouldnt allow enough time for this so a work around is very simple. We need a new system that states when the seller gets the money and the seller gets the account and the deal is finally complete, said seller cannot even if they wanted to get unauthorized access to the poor guys freshly bought account. It's a shot in the dark but this would require a lot of programming and a full team of dedicated programmers and community members to make it happen. if anyone is down to brain storm with me dm me, I'm always on

As far as scammers being on the site I've been one of the lucky few who has not been scammed on here but there has been a case where I almost did but didn't because the MM pulled it back because it turned out to be a weird seller. Everyone let's stay safe and make sure to be careful but this does need planning and a lot of it. But I loved the suggestions.

I want to quote something @kingofauthum said with scammers bypassing the VPN instant bans
"also how are scammers creating new accounts i thought you guys didn't allow that! even if they use a vpn i assume that would trigger something to insta ban them" - @kingofauthum

Man working on something like this would be so fun and intriguing to work on and it boils down to getting at least 1 or two very skilled programmers going at it and finally finding the solution to stop this exploit from happening, But I agree with ya! But we need to come together and figure out solutions together as a community. I myself am heavily into software development and I wonder how many other programmers are in our community that would love to tackle something like VPN ban exploiting fixes would be a piece of cake for us but we don't work on them because it's against terms of service or...at least we think so because we don't want to write software that tampers with the site AT ALL because to mitigate risk of a ban.

I Myself would proudly love to work on the exploit and stop these guys from climbing the walls of our home after an intense ban, Think about it shall we someone of these scammers have really done some of users very wrongly and if they feel or think that they can return they will, in turn do it again.. recovery codes, writing a dedicated software that is built for Epic itself for trades, software, a set of rules.. all that means nothing if they intruder will feel confident in their environment. Let us change that.. again I'm not just posting this I really want to make a difference so seriously any of you who would love brain-storm and stop these scams dm me and let's discuss what we could do in a call or via dm.

as a final note the recovery code mechanism's are integrated into the game application themselves and the buyer never has enough time to even enable them and that's stating that the deal went as planned and they were given the account details everything was handed and changed from passwords, security questions ect.

Also I want to just say to @kingofauthum there are people on the forums who are very well friendly and caring people I've met some and you'd be surprised but hey reach out anytime if you have any ideas!

We can’t really use recovery codes in that way to help secure game accounts. That is limited by the game companies themselves. There is no true protection to account recalls unless the game company ends up creating one themselves. We have no control over their recall methods or how their support handles recalls. We can only educate buyers/sellers on the best possible way to avoid the situation.

We allowed VPNs to be used awhile back. They are way too common these days and it would just limit the traffic if we continue banning them constantly and banning people using VPNs wasn’t solving the scammer problem anyways. There are countless ways to manipulate your IP without using a VPN. We have other security measures that we do use to catch scammers but security measures are not always 100% on any website.

@Adoxia You're absolutely correct on the recovery code system being built into the game companies clients, to be honest in the back of my mind I was thinking that as well

I want to quote something that really struck as hitting a ball with a baseball bat 100 miles away that you said and I hope everyone gets what @Adoxia means by this.

"banning people using VPNs wasn’t solving the scammer problem anyways" - @Adoxia

This is true, banning everyone that uses a VPN service would be like doing a "controlled prescribed forest fire" and as we all know those always never work you can't just annihilate everyone on a VPN on the site, It really urks me on how these scammers work they hide in plain view. Well to be honest the answer to this is right in front of us we need a way where we in a way could freeze the scammer to give enough time for the buyer to enough time to fully secure an account. Knowing this should be sufficient to build upon.

Also of the matter that is also true that there are other ways to take advantage of an IP address but at the end of the day it comes down to what I said before having a fresh new pair of eyes and a dedicated team to really tackle such a problem with this. I feel after awhile dealing with creating stonewalls for scammers would be tedious and time consuming but where there's a will there's a way.

Sorry for my shorter reply this time, I'm eating a half frozen waffle rn and I'm burnt out haha!

I will say this every software dev knows this, nothing is truly secure and nothing is always safe BUT you must adapt to the malice environment and educate everyone on just as @Adoxia stated!

But garsh doesn't suck that we must deal with such issues *sigh*

You guys are lucky I wouldve wrote a way longer message but I'm sitting here like a duck in maple syrup!
