I've had two accounts, one that I've sold for $350 and one in the process of selling currently.

I've come across TONS of people who add me on MSN, AIM, PM me and so on.. with horrible English and grammar usage. I know not everyone on here can speak amazing English (myself included), but I just don't think it makes it easier on trusting people. Everytime I come up against someone who messages me saying "Hey, u sell wow acc ?", I cannot trust them. The sterotypical scammer that I've seen will put and space before question marks, which immediately strays me away from being serious about the sale, not to mention the constant usage of "u" and "acc" instead of "you" and "account".

When I see this, I play along, and have gotten up to 3 paypal "verified" user accounts from the scammer. I promptly shoot a mail to the registered email on this account telling them to change their information because they have been ripped off, or will be.

One such user that (who knows) seems like a scammer is the poster of - http://www.markeedragon.com/forums/ubbth...re_times#UNREAD

How can you trust someone from China or wherever if they act exactly the same as a scammer. Maybe I've been too quick to judge on peoples' English and grammar usage, but I believe there is no other way to tell until you get into the specifics.

Ask suspected scammers to shoot you a mail from their registered email on the site where you're getting your money from. If they won't do this for you, there is obviously something extremely fishy about the whole deal and it should be discontinued.

Does anyone know any other ways to tell if someone is actually a scammer? If so, I think it would be a good idea to post them so we do not see as many poor people being scammed out of their money right and left.

(It IS really fun confusing scammers though, so go right ahead and do some good by helping people out and telling them about their ripped off paypal / other accounts :D)

Well here are some tips :

1. Always ask the guy (specially if he uses "i buy account paypal how much you want?"-sentences) to post in your thread

2. Use other payment methods then Paypal, if you are selling stuff Moneybookers & Western Union decrease your chanse to get scammed by 90 %

3. Real scammers are ALWAYS very stressed. When you don't answere within the minute they start spamming you.

4. Ask for a telephone call, this totally scares of amature scammers.

5. You have 2 kinds of scammers :

The Pro Scammer : Uses decent/great english, is willing to call you and much much more. They often use verified paypal accounts and give you as much time as you need to respond on a question. When this guys target you, you are pretty [censored] up (You will most of the time trust this guys, they are always very social and such)

The n00b Scammer : He uses bad english, only accepts paypal and spams you like mad. He will also -NEVER- negotiate on the price, he will just instantly accept it. When somebody accepts your price instantly you should be "scared". If a not-scammer wants to buy something, he will always try to get the price down. Which is kinda normal since he will LOSE the money he pays for this account. Scammers won't lose the money so they don't care how much they will have to give you

PS : Chineese E-Mails & nicknames are always dangerous, not to offend you or asians in general. But alot (Perhaps more then 50%) of the n00b scammers are asians. When an asian with bad language contacts you, you better block him instantly, unless he acts normal & is willing to use other payment methods then Paypal.
