What was scammed?: $200.00 USD
Link of trade thread: link the thread of what you or they were trading, if any:
Original thread was this:
http://vbforums.mmobay.net/wow-usa-...662-mmobay-cataclysm-invites.html#post2223270
He referred to a thread where price had gone from $75 to $200.
Approximate value of scammed property: $212.00 USD, plus interest @ 17.40% APR for 19 Days.
$200.00 to -REMOVED-
$12.00 to Western Union
Interest @ 17.40% for 19 days (and counting) to Bank of America
Was a middleman used?: I believe so, yes, but not in the traditional sense.
If yes, who?:
Kozmkdr3d a/k/a -REMOVED- offered Beta Account Flagging in exchange for money, I am operating on the assumption that either Kozmkdr3d is a Blizzard employee, or is in close contact with a Blizzard Employee who can submit beta flagging requests at high priority.
Describe how you were scammed:
Individual claimed he could deliver a Beta Flagging of an account in 2 weeks time, no such flagging has occurred.
Other details / notes:
I've known lots of other Blizzard employees who have delivered Beta Keys/Account Codes/Account Flagging for cash/services, so it seemed like a reasonable and prudent purchase. It's reasonable to assume that based on past behavior, the conduct was still going on within Blizz.

When I talked to the individual initially, he communicated that it may take 1-2 weeks time for the flagging to take place and for my invite to go out. I communicated to him that I understood that fact, and that was a reasonable time frame to get a beta invitation on my account. I sent him a few IMs last week to touch base with him, and sent one more when he was offline on Friday with my email address and home phone number. When contacting him for the first time I asked if there was another preferred method of communication, and he informed me that no, he was always on AIM and checked it constantly. I've not heard back from him since our initial conversation and financial transaction.
I don't have any chat logs of the initial conversation unfortunately, but in terms of evidence, consider this - what would my motivation be to send $200 to a person I've never otherwise heard of, met or dealt with in any phase of my personal or professional life? Further, I did confirm the transaction with BoA when their fraud dept. called and noted with them that it was payment for services in an online transaction.
I'm going to go ahead and lay out the disclaimer that I'm posting this as much for my own benefit as notice to him that I'm wondering what's going on. If I get my Beta Invite, it's all well and good, but a PM, text message, email, etc., would be appreciated. If I don't hear something back within 72 hours, I'm filing a dispute with Western Union, with my Credit Card, if I hear nothing by Friday morning, I'll be filing a criminal complaint with the VA Beach Police and probably IC3.
