MJ brought up the subject of providing semi-legal arbitration to the forums that would be legal binding. Basically members would sign a contract stating they would relinquish their rights to me and abide by the decision I make in their dispute. That contract would be semi-legally-binding. I say "semi" because the loser would still be able to disputed it in a court of law as I am not a legal lawyer.

Almost 2/3 of the members are international and about 25% of the disputes are against scammers who would never sign the contract.

Since this would be a legal document, I would have to record all disputes and have signed legal papers of all parties involved. Because of the extra paper work, I would charge a fee of $30-50 to cover the added time I would have to dedicate to these disputes.

My question is who thinks this is a good idea and who would realistically use this service.

Vote above.

So if you dont pay it and you are scammed you cant do anything about it? or will the old dispute verison still be there?

So wait.. lol your already losing money and this guy wants these people to spend more money? come on now.... its virtual items and if there stupid enough to deal with the scammer meaning they didnt use 1 of the middleman or pay to use the service to check there account cause lets admit this. 90% of scammers are returning scammers

Maybe if you're dealing with $2500 accounts and what not, then this would be useful. For your every day trades though, this isn't useful. I understand why you would charge that much, but seeing as how cheap 90% of the members of this site, none of them will pay that.

many of the scam disputes on this site are no rep people getting scammed by no rep people, when disputes pop up between high rep users, they usually are handled and everyone walks away fine. For those few disputes where people get scammed by high repped, well known members (EU Dreamer stuff, Sky, ect.) those people most likely wouldn't of opt'd in for the arbitration anyway because it's a rep member trading a repped member.

It's a cool idea but I just don't think it's going to get much use at all.

I agree with all the comments above stating this wouldn't work and is unrealistic.

Simply stating that when a scam occurs the person doing the scam disappears and therefore isnt stupid enough to sign a legal binding document that incriminates them

Another point as why this wouldn't work.

Thanks for the all the input. This thread was really meant to get MJ to stop pushing his arbitration idea on me (http://www.epicnpc.com/help/473918-epicnpc-mediation-arbitration-whatever-you-want-call.html) as he's being doing so for the last week.

So don't worry about this, it will never happen.

The forums have an auto-save, just click "Go Advanced" and click "Restore auto-save" in the bottom left.

As far as I'm concerned nothing stated in either thread has swayed my decision, so I'm closing this.
