Paypal protection

Well, I was recently scammed, and I am hoping to get either the money or the account back anyway, but had a few questions:

In the future, if I give Username/PW right away, then send the other information via Mail, in a physical tangible letter I would assume I am under Seller's Protection. I can get something from the Post Office saying yes it has been shipped, and hopefully if I ever get scammed I can show that.

3 questions about that though, what do I need to do to ensure that I have sent it to the right address, so that Paypal knows I have sent it to an agreed upon address.

Also what does this get me? Does this mean if we go into a dispute I will most likely win with my proof of shipment, and he will have to pay regardless if he wanted to, because I had indeed shipped the information?

Finally if I do this will I need to wait 60 days to ship it, or could I be safe shipping it immediatley, knowing with the proof of shipment that if he tries to reverse it I will probably be safe.

How close to correct am I on any of this information?

Send it to the address attached to the paypal account. Should be on the invoice or reciept.

You should win if you can prove it was shipped to his paypal address. just need tracking number, gg.

Ship it as soon as you get the money

I've also read that if you get them too send you an email like:

I <Buyers Name here> have attached a screenshot of the transfer from the world of Warcraft account ((A screenshot of the unfinished transfer.)) to prove the transfer is going ahead without any foul play.

From an email provider that passes on IP in the headers (Not Gmail etc), and the paypal account wasn't hacked then you have enough proof to quash any charge backs just by forwarding the email to them+Adding a few screenshots of AIM logs etc.

But both parties would need to sign that for it to be valid, so you couldnt email it, send a certified mail through the US postal service imo.

Well since the header would have the same IP has the computer paying for the account, it would remove any "Unaurthorized payment." claims, since the buyer would be the one sending the email in a way they are signing it with their IP, and I suppose you could send an email back with your IP on it saying you agree. Anything like misdescribed goods is removed with the screenshots.

Though I don't have experience with paypal chargbacks, I've heard from several people that this is proof enough?

Yea but the same IP cant prove (in a court of law anyway) that he was the one doing it. Could be a lan center, could be a wi-fi spot.

Send in your ID, and get your account back imo. If your not the OO, photoshop and ID card, and send that in, LOL!

Hmmmm. Well Currently I'm trying to sell a T6 ready Warlock, and this doesn't sound good. I was under the assumtion of you get enough Email evidence Paypal will side with the seller (Vs the buyer who will have no proof), but getting a signiture might be difficult (I am selling a EURO account, so I could be sending to someone in a different country.)

Just read some new stuff on google and sounds like a lot of the time Paypal will allow a chargeback even when you have signiture etc. I've read a bit about Western Union being better at seller protection, and even though It might be a little off topic, anyone got any experience with dealing with chargebacks with them?

It's really very simple, regardless of the means you use (shipping a letter, get a signature, sending or receiving emails, etc etc etc) all do nothing for improving your chances of winning a PayPal claim as a seller of a virtual item as it expressly states that PayPal does not offer any form of Seller Protection for any Virtual Goods. PayPal, by all means is completely insecure for the seller for purchasing Virtual Goods.

If you accept PayPal from someone you need to do everything possible to verify their identity, and that they are not a scammer. How I personally do this is by requiring a Photo ID, IP, Phone, and Address verification, and then matching their IP addresses with the same geographical location that's on their Photo ID.

Even doing all of this does not protect you from being the victim of a chargeback, but if they do file a chargeback you know where they are located and you can use criminal and/or legal means for recovering your money.

Western Union is very secure, and can not be charged back for any reason once the money is picked up.

However it's also a common scam for people to advertise a very high end account, talk people into sending Western Union, then changing their number / making a new AIM, and new MD account, and then repeatedly running the same scam over and over. It's very hard, no matter how legitimate you are, to talk people into using Western Union if you don't have a huge amount of great feedback, since it's a risk for the buyer.

Being a new member on the forum, having little or no feedback, etc are very disadvantageous for a seller, and makes you a prime target for fraud. It's one of those double edged swords, "You can't get feedback without having feedback" for first time sellers.

My advice is to talk to a reseller such as myself or one of the other resellers that have extensive all positive feedback, so you know what to expect and don't have to worry about chargebacks. You'll also end up with Positive Feedback so if you ever want to buy or sell an account in the future for you or a friend you have something to help show buyers or sellers that you have had positive transactions on MarkeeDragon.

However a lot of people choose to take their chances in hopes for a bit more money, some of those people find legitimate buyers, but I also see just as many of those people posting in the scammer forums asking for help on how to get their money back from a scammer.
