Impersonators going wild

Plenty of people are being scammed on Epicnpc by someone pretending to be me, i have added my only discord in my signature.
Is there any way i can stop impersonators or something more i could do to prevent this? I get messaged daily about impersonators and people being scammed.
I really want to end this but i cant think of anything that could prevent this time of scam, or at least reduce the chances of people being scammed other than adding it to the signature.
Any suggestions?

The only solution is to not use discord. The platform basically allows impersonation. As long as you have your discord shown publicly, impersonation will happen.

I found that skype + forum PMs are more than sufficient for any kind of communication. If you really need discord, you can still use it but don't show it publicly.

The chat was updated two months ago so that it would load instantly, without having to reload the page. This makes chatting just as fast as Discord or Skype. If there are other reasons to go off-site, I think addressing these would help combat the impersonation problem better than trying to post warnings everywhere.

1) Why do sellers still prefer to chat offsite?
2) What can we do, add, or change to get sellers to stop using other chats?

Many people contact us but they're not registered onsite, therefore not using Discord would drastically reduce sales, as buyers would look for another vendor who uses their favorite platform (usually discord).

As Italy stated many people do not want to register account here mostly because they come to buy one time and that's all.
Best what we can do is to add warnings in our profiles so even when impersonator provide our profile link victim can easy read this warning and avoid scam. Before i added the warning in my profile there was several scammers who tried to impersonate me but after this day i never heard about any of them.

Yeah, there isn't really anything outside of adding the warning to your profile. Unfortunately it will just remain an issue as most people aren't patient enough to confirm your identity which leads to them being scammed.

In my opinion only using specific communication tools such as, skype,Epic chat or facebook because as you known, on discord even they can imitate our tag number and nickname thats why so many people try to scam everyday :/

Offsite communication is so much easier since you can use with your phone and not have to have your browser open to epicnpc. thats why I have started making people pm here before i will talk to them on discord. frankly don't want your business if you are not on here. anytime i do business with people off site i get payment recalls.

You can make discord grp and let people add you via link.

It's sellers' conveniences and buyers' habit.

1.For seller, the ability to chat instantly with multiple buyers is a must. I had 10 messages from 10 potential buyers and couple more from discord Friend List. I can just multi tasking and finish them all in around 15-30 minutes. Compare to our Chat Message , it equivalent to 10+ browser opens and you kinda lost which one of them is messaging you.

2. The chat process is totally different. Discord is universal Chat Messenger and EpicNPC is a Forum. Not many people familiar with forum type.
Discord: Buyer see Discord Tag -> Add Friend -> Seller Accepts -> Chat instantly if seller accept fast.
EpicNPC: Buyers have a hard time finding where is Start Conversation since there is no indication that clicking on Seller name can show that or the Letter Icon is Start Conversation -> Register taking a while -> Chat and not sure if the conversation is continuous for both Seller & Buyer.

You have all kind of social media messenger like Facebook, Line, Kik, Skype, Whatsap, etc... They have UI of continuous chatting. EpicNPC just didn't feel right.
- I prefer the old little live chat we got back then. Could improve that one instead of old inbox chatting. Can even let anonymous chat with sellers and sellers decide anonymous to register for safety is up to their own choice. If anonymous scamming, we can ban his IP.
- There should be a big fat button with Message Seller/Message me/Start Conversation/Contact Seller on seller thread or Profile.
- Oh, also phone notification is also important. Every time a message came from Discord, my phone always make a sound so I usually chat with buyer instantly. EpicNPC doesn't seems to have an app yet which is huge let down.

Banned - illegal activity - chargeback scams

The only way to eliminate this is if epicnpc out feature discord by adding a huge noticable button for direct contact on forum, and a notification to phones. Otherwise, I cant just not add my discord which is a big contacting method nowadays, and forcing people to use other means of contact.

The old chat system was 3rd party which allowed very little customization on our end. That's not something we're going to go back to. We will continue improving the current chat system. @SetsunaEpic you brought up a lot of good points why users still use Discord and other chats, so we'll take that into account for future chat updates. I think the next big chat update has to include multi-chat management so sellers can quickly and easily have many different chats going on at once without having multiple tabs open in their browser.

This might be good for Sellers. You can buyer to check discord tag before buying.
