Identity Information, what can they do with it? :(

Hi, I'm highly considering selling my account to one of the Repp'd buyers here on Markee. What I'm wondering however, is what exactly can be done with my Government ID?

I know what it WILL be used for (regaining control of the account should it be banned or what have you), but what CAN it be used for?

I have the options of:

Canadian Medicare Card
Birth Certificate
Passport

Which of the 3 would be safest? Do they accept School ID's? Is there any possible way to use these copies for identification fraud by searching through Medical Records for Credit Card numbers, or anything else?

Please help, as I am quite worried about it. =(


Edit: Also, would they accept perhaps a low-def Webcam/Cellphone picture instead? That way they can't make out all of my numbers and what not. Any ideas? I'm very in the dark about this >.<

You most likely wanna use the Canadian medicare card ( Assurance-Maladie)

Honestly, I am not an expert on identity theft,the most common attempts at identity theft will be on a credit level, where they will try to clone your card or your information to reproduce it on a new card.

Most fraud happens without you being aware of it, or even ever facing the fraudster.

Personally, I would NEVER give any ID out to anyone for any reason period. I know why the resellers want it, but once that gets out I have no control over it any longer.

With Identity theft on the rise, and with the ability to actually purchase a complete identity for as little as $5, I feel that you should be as paranoid as possible in this day and age.

But you don't know these resellers methods for protecting your identity. You don't know if they send the ID to someone else along with the account, or provide it to someone else who claims to have been scammed, and what they'll do with it. Is the information encrypted on their machine? Do they carry it around on a laptop that could get lost?

I use a combination of mint.com and creditkarama.com to check my credit and see if anything strange is going on.

Ace makes a valid point. I also don't give out my ID, if the name on the account matches the name on my TWV that is proof enough. I don't consent to other people sending in MY ID.

I recently tried to sell an account to a larger website, buymmoaccounts.com and they permit you to block out the license number.

Most resellers on MD will require a high quality scan but I'd recommend selling to one that does not give the ID scan to the buyer, simply keeping it for there own records. There are a few resellers that don't pass along the ID.

Hmm, by any chance would you be able to let me know who those people are Kevs? >.<, or anyone that would be willing to do business with me without an ID? I suppose I could go get myself TWV, but I'de still have zero Rep.
