How to avoid being scammed?

Hi everyone!

I plan on using EPICNPC to purchase an Apex Legends account and my question was for those of you who have successfully purchased an Apex account before.

What steps do I need to take to avoid being scammed or having the account taken back from me 2,3,4, etc. weeks from now?

Obviously using Trade Guardian helps, but I've been reading threads where someone has still taken the account back some time later. I didn't see any sort of sticky thread
on how to go about this so I hope it's posted in the correct section of the forum and I hope someone can help me out.

When purchasing an account what should the criteria be to ensure that the account stays in my possession after I pay for it?
I've checked out the steps in the info center as well, but they are fairly straightforward like any online transaction, and I'm wondering
if there's anything more in depth that apply to online game accounts more specifically.

Edit: For example, one thing I see buyers frequently ask for is to verify that the email associated with the account is the 'original email' the account was made with. How
does one even begin to verify that the current email on the account is the original?

I'm not really too familiar with the Apex buying process but if you want to be able to buy an account without worrying about it being recovered within a few weeks/months, I'd go ahead and buy from someone trustworthy. This means someone with a ton of positive feedback and 0 negative feedback. If I wanted to be really safe, I'd buy from someone with 100+ and someone who has been on the site for quite some time. 2 years +. Buying from users like this increases your chances of it being a safe account. Don't get me wrong though.. anyone can scam but it's less likely from someone who has put in many hours into this site.

Once you find someone reliable to buy from then I am sure they will provide you with all the information you need and inform you on how to verify the original email etc. If you ever need advice on whether or not someone is sketchy or about trading etc, feel free to PM me.

You can simply contact live support and ask them, i did that sometimes during Trade Guardian transaction if the buyer requested from me.

I checked it out. I believe the individual is legit discord-wise and all that. I'm just waiting to confirm all the email related stuff on the account to go forward.

Not to sound too skeptical, but you're saying I can just contact EA/Origin/Apex and say can you tell me if the email on ''ThisAccount12345'' has ever been changed? Don't I have to prove the account belongs to me for them to give out any information? I assume selling accounts is against their ToS so I assume I wouldn't be able to tell them I'm asking because I'm interested in buying it.

What I figured out to be somewhat of a reasonable alternative is when you login to your Origin account, it tells you the day your account was made and then on another page it tells you the last day your associated email was updated. I'd assume it would be a safe rule of thumb that the dates would have to match one another, or (at the very least) the email last date change would have to be a LONG time ago for one to assume the seller was not scamming. (IE: If the account is 3yrs old and the email changed last month it would be a definite red flag)

Right on, thanks for the info, Angel. I figured it may have been something like that. You're definitely right about it only being partial protection since so many other methods can be used by a scammer to recover the account back.

I don't have to worry about it for the time being though as the account I was offered was done so by a scammer. I just posted a thread about it in the appropriate forum section, be sure to check it out if you want a good scammer laugh. lol. I just
hope no other Epic NPC members were contacted by him and fall for his lies.
