So I bought around 70 dollars worth of gold from a website yesterday using paypal that was linked to my credit card. Waited hours for a confirmation about delivery but nothing happened. I decided to talk via live chat but I was completely ignored. Today I decided to open a paypal dispute in the resolution center. 10 mins later they finally contact me saying that the gold is ready to be delivered but first you must close the dispute. I knew something fishy was going on at this point since once you close a dispute it cannot be opened again. I decided not to close it and asked for a refund. I was ignored again after that. Later on I did some research and found other people have been scammed the same way... ( I know I should have checked before)

Anyways.. at this point I am wondering if there is anything that I can do to get my money back.

Don't buy from sites, Buy from resellers here on the forums with good reputation.
All you can really do is dispute the charge, if the funds from the purchase itself came from your credit card you can contact your cc company and have them dispute that charge, forcing paypal to deduct it from the seller, although that may complicate the issue. I'm sure someone else with more paypal dispute experience will reply soon ^^

One of the common things among China and it's game currency trade, Is vendors taking orders for any amounts of gold, and in most cases not actually having it on hand, they may need to find it within their network of resellers, or a farmer may need to collect it, etc. This sometimes takes minutes, hours, or days, and it's generally of no concern to the vendor if it takes this amount of time.

This is not the case with the resellers here on the forums, they generally deliver in under 15 minutes.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for your input.. arggh im so angry at myself right now. its not really about the money more about the fact that i was foolish enough to let someone scam me. so i did some research on the site and apparantly they are notorious on scambook.com. many people have experienced the same issue as i am going through... what do i tell my credit card company? that i got scammed from buying virtual items? would they do anything about that? since it is a digital item afterall.

ugh.. im so angry right now. should have known better. after doing some research i found out that they are listed on scambook. apparantly a lot of people have been tricked like i was. anyways if i call my cc company what should i tell them? do they cover issues regarding "virtual items".

Just tell them you were scammed by some company from China, bend around the virtual items thing, it shouldn't really be an issue trying to get your money back given you used a credit card in the first place.

Tks ,have a nice day

Some months ago that happened to me too and I had to wait for 1 month to get my money back... They wanted me to close the dispute then they refund my money (btw it's not a gold selling site). Finally PayPal helped me out. $1500 hanging in the air for a month... Never close a dispute if they want you to do it.
