Chat temporarily removed

The on-site chat system has been temporarily disabled due to the negative impact it has on loading times. Consistently the chat has been the slowest loading part of each page and while many members like using it, overall removing it provides a benefit to all members.

We will be investigating ways to bring it back, but it will only come back once we are able to figure out how to do it without causing slower page loads.

The current slowness is unrelated to the chat and we're working on it.

The chat had many bugs. I didn't use it much anyways.

How about you make a separate page for the chat, instead of making it load on every page?
For example, I open a chat in a new tab and invite users to it. Those who are invited get a notification asking them if they want to join. If they accept, a new tab/window with the chat opens and the chat starts.
Less server load and shorter loading time, while still retaining it's purpose, to allow me to chat with other members.

That's not a bad idea. I'll take a look to see what alternatives can be found to add some sort of chat back in the near future.

I did lots of deals using it but I understand why it has been taken down.

I really hope this comes back soon. It was vital to doing deals on epicnpc without having to jump off site, as well as making the communication quicker
