Some of you might have noticed a new chat box in the bottom right of your browser that appeared for about 10 minutes. We we're testing a new chat for the site to see how site performance was affected.

We're very excited for this new feature since chat has always been one of the top requests from members. This time we think we can deliver a chat that no only has excellent functionality, much better than our previous chat a few years ago, but also very little performance downside in terms of page loading times.

This initial test was successfully and we didn't see any major impact on loading times, so we're moving forward with customizing and setting up the chat for an official launch.

Once everything is ready, we'll launch the chat on Monday, Nov 27th for a second much longer test run. Most likely we won't have to disable the chat and we'll be able to make adjustments on the fly to improve performance if required.

Compared to the chat we used a few years ago, this one no only performs better, but in my option is much nicer looking and less intrusive. Members will be able to both private message each other instantly and we'll also be setting up some chat rooms for support and general discussion, however there will be no selling in chat rooms and only registered members will be able to use it.

I'll update this next week once we official launch it and we'll post some general rules also.

Good news, less % of people getting scammed by impersonators since all the talking can now be on the site. Will the site have the option to save/store chat logs so it can later serve as proof in disputes?

That's great, we really needed that, it will surely decrease scams potential

If the chat will be used as a group communictation then its crutial that its info is saved, otherwise there will be no proof in disputes.

Maybe instead of storing the chats you should send the trascript via email, so that it will use less resources

I dunno about storing the logs via email or accessible through one's epicnpc account. Just spells disaster if someone where to get their Epicnpc / email account compromised and then some ******* has lots of private information / MMO accounts to try to recall.
