--------------------------------------------------
During this time in vent, he seemed like a very decent and trustworthy person. I have been scammed in the past and for no reason I don't know why, MarkeeDragon banned my other account, which is typical for their ignorance and lack of help for their users.
Anyhow, for those that have been scammed will know that during the point of sale, the scammer will give a story or an excuse as to why paypal won't be accepted; typically something along the lines of "My PayPal account is locked because of..." etc.
The reason for the gamesupply link is because I told him I was interested in buying that rogue if I wasn't going through with the sale.
During the conversation in AIM, he showed me his rogue, it was all as stated his post. He gave me the story that his Paypal account was locked and wanted to do it via WU. After trying to reason with him with the following:
- I send payment via Paypal, he can keep the SQA till the funds clear, after funds clear, I then get the SQA, end of story.
- I also offered to let him log on to another seperate account that I am currently selling on ebay, so that he can basically see that I''m a decent person, and what I say is no lie.
This still wasn't good enough for him, keep in mind we're talking in MY vent, in which I offered to speak over in, IMO, for a person that is selling a Gladiator Rogue for $200.00, would want to IMMEDIATELY speak to someone over vent.
Anyhow, he even stated that he knew I was legit, though he still wanted the payment method done via Western Union, (He did however say, that he is willing to wait for his paypal account to be finalised and then may think about using it, so I'll give him that) so after all the chit-chat, we kind of agreed to do it via WU.
I've never used WU, or neither had a WU account before because we all here about the crap/lies/scams that go on with WU. Whilst I was creating the account, I also offered:
- Once I send the payment via WU, it will give me a receipt, I can screenshot the receipt, send it to him along with the MTCN # which he can check and can then send me the U/N and P/W. Now considering all this stuff that I have gone through with this guy, and the offers I've been giving, I have no damn intention on logging on this great account and stupidly "Strip it" or sell the mats on his account...How would I sell the mats on a random server anyway? And if people do that, I feel sorry for their parents. Anywhow, he wasn't willing to accept the screenshot as a decent offer to send me the U/N and P/W.
- I was literally on the page about to send the money and I noticed that the fees were quite much, so I posted the following on AIM, and we agreed that 175.00 was enough to send now, and the rest can be sent later.

During Ventrilo, he said it was fine. I was going through the situation in my head and I wasn't comfortable doing WU like this, or doing WU at all. It seems that with all scammers, when you offer them anything to prove your validility or decency as a person, it's always just brushed away and given an excuse for their non response. I simply saw too many signs of being scammed in this situation. I work in Credit Card Fraud, for one of Australia's largest banks, and I deal with this crap all the time. I went with it in the beginning because he seemed like a trustworthy person, however down the line, I noticed signs and previous things that happened to me before in the past when I was scammed.
My partner was in the same room as me and I didn't want to say this out loud in vent so I posted it in AIM.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[email protected] 7:02 pm
(7:02:27 PM): Very sorry, just extremely uncomfortable to do it via WU like this, I would have expected U/N and P/W minimum as I wouldn't be able to do much with those details anyhow, and considering how decent I've been to offer vent, my other account etc, I just feel a bit off the hook, once your paypal thing is done I'm happy to do it that way and you can keep on looking for another buyer that wants to do WU, if not, and you're confident with me, then I'm happy to do paypal, apologies.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After I said that he was being very persuasive and just giving excuses as to why he wanted to use WU, to be honest, with the amount of bullshit that is going in Markeedragon, and with the amount of scammers that are going around, if I was selling an account, and if I had somebody offer everything I have, I wouldn't hesitate about giving the u/n and p/w once I've seen the receipt etc.
After talking a bit, he persuased me to do the WU sale the following morning so that he can check it once they are open.
One thing I didn't understand was, that he can check the MTCN # online straight after the payment has been made, so why would he need to wait till WU is open?
Anyhow, I sent the following on AIM.

(6:22:37 AM): There is a MTCN #
(6:22:41 AM): It's a 10 digit number.

(6:30:43 AM): I spoke to the guy that bought it on the phone and we were both genuine people.
(6:31:07 AM): He sent the money via bank deposit and gave me a screenshot of it
(6:31:22 AM): And due to my decency, I was happy to give him the u/n and p/w.
(6:31:36 AM): The following day I received my payment and end of story.
(6:31:45 AM): Thats just the sorta thing I
(6:32:04 AM): I'd expect, and when you don't get it...Hesitation starts to arise...
(6:32:10 AM): Nnot only that...
[email protected] 6:32 am
(6:32:34 AM): I bought an account off one guy, he also went in to my vent server and we had a chat
(6:32:57 AM): I sent him the money via paypal, and as soon as it was done he just logged off, never heard from him again.
(6:33:24 AM): Though the funny thing is that him, and other scammers say, is that, they'll always explain the story that their paypal account is "Locked".
(6:33:38 AM): He said the EXACT same thing you said in relation to the whole paypal situation
(6:34:14 AM): So once you've heard the same crap from somebody else, and then you hear it again...Logic starts to enter your head and it then becomes hard to justify to do it again.
[email protected] 6:37 am
(6:37:52 AM): I work in credit card fraud for a bank, so if worse comes to worse I can just order a chargeback through my bank and get the money back in a few weeks...But...I shouldn't have to and nor should anyone else.
(6:38:43 AM): A response would be decent...
[email protected] 6:42 am
(6:42:20 AM): ...
bturk021 6:49 am
(6:49:13 AM): I was killing Sartharion for the weekly raid.
(6:49:16 AM): Sorry for the belated response.
(6:49:38 AM): I don't know what to tell you. If you work for a credit card fraud department for a major multi-national bank then your risk is literally 0.
(6:49:51 AM): I told you before - if I can check an MTCN #, I will give you the information before I leave my house.
(6:50:06 AM): I've used WU for over 40 of my eBay transactions - buy and sell.
[email protected] 6:52 am
(6:52:29 AM): "I don't know what to tell you. If you work for a credit card fraud department for a major multi-national bank then your risk is literally 0."... Yes but it's waste of time and it will take about 2 weeks before I get my money back if I am frauded.
bturk021 6:52 am
(6:52:35 AM): If your mindset going into a deal is that the other person is a scammer then there is not much to rectify the situation at all.
[email protected] 6:52 am
(6:52:41 AM): There's just too many signs of a potential scam in this case.
bturk021 6:52 am
(6:52:53 AM): Like I said before, I'd be willing to wait until my PayPal dispute is over with.
(6:53:28 AM): But I'll definitely take the first WU offer I can.
[email protected] 6:53 am
(6:53:42 AM): Though you can still receive funds through paypal?
(6:53:54 AM): I offerred to talk in my vent server.
(6:54:03 AM): Offerred a screenshot of payment.
(6:54:13 AM): Even offered you to login to my seperate account.
[email protected] 6:54 am
(6:54:54 AM): Yet those aren't "much to rectify the situation at all.", I was doing my best to show you that I was decent yet with every single thing there was always an excuse, and they alllllllll give excuses.
(6:55:29 AM): Like I don't understand, you could tell I'm decent, you could tell I was about to send the cash...What hurts with being recipient?
bturk021 7:03 am
(7:03:15 AM): I'm not sure what you're getting at.
(7:03:18 AM): I know you're legitimate.
(7:03:23 AM): That isn't the question.
(7:03:45 AM): What you're asking me is to give you my account information without receiving payment (or verifying it) to any extent.
(7:04:04 AM): I'm just trying to keep it simple. You work with money all day. Straight transactions are obviously the least complicated.
[email protected] 7:05 am
(7:05:06 AM): Yeah, look, it's fine, I'm over this justification stuff, best of luck with your rogue, I think I'll stink with a trusted seller, most likely buy that rogue that I showed you before. Good luck.
bturk021 7:05 am
(7:05:18 AM): Alright.
(7:05:29 AM): If you change your mind before somebody else picks it up, let me know.
[email protected] 7:18 am
(7:18:02 AM): Yeah, I think the only way I could do this from now on would be via Ebay. If you were to create the auction via Ebay using the account in which you said you have over 140+ positive feedback, I'd be happy to pay via Paypal, and at least that way Ebay can basically oversee the transactions any bullshit that happens.
(7:18:23 AM): Other than that, I don't know how else I'd buy this account, it just seems all too good to be true.
[email protected] 7:37 am
(7:37:21 AM): Also with the lack of responses and the amount of time it takes.
[email protected] 7:40 am
(7:40:13 AM): I was truly going to offer you an incentive by paying you an extra $70-80 next week as a thanks for being decent.
-----------------------------------------------
And that is that. I didn't go ahead with the sale, as my gut feeling was telling me not go for it. He had no rep (Neither have I due to the oh so fantastic MD admins).
I'm not saying this guy is a scammer 100%, he seemed decent (though very persuasive), and I almost trusted him enough to send the money via WU. I'm just too logical for that crap, and I was seeing too many signs of being scammed. I was hearing the same sort of excuses that I've heard from previous scammers. But here's a basic description as to to potential signs of being scammed :
- 1st and foremost, too damn good to be true. For a toon with that much gear + gladiator title, the price of it and everything else just seemed like too good to be true, and with WU scams, that is generally the case.
- I offered to speak in my own vent server.
- I offered for him to log on another account I own.
- I offered to send screenshot of payments and receipts from WU, in exchange for U/N and P/W ALONE, never did I ask for a SQA...And if someone one is really that worried that I would "Strip the rogue", then you can just simply create another toon and give the mats to him or someone else you trust. Logic is amazing.
- The typical excuse of the Paypal account being locked. Isn't always so convenient for scammers that every time I speak to them about sending payment via Paypal, they always give an excuse that their paypal account has been locked?
- Also the amount of time it took for him to respond in AIM.
That is his 2nd post in which I saw the account. His 1st post was this one:
http://www.markeedragon.com/forums/ubbth...us_#Post3115335
On his 1st post, there is a banned user called : Memnark.
He posted, THIS guy [censored] scammed me, paid him a agreed upon amount over paypal, waited for info. he was raiding, so he says, and i kept spamming him to get a response and nothing.. unless he gets me back my money. i think im disputing it rather soon. like to see this guy get a ban.
Bturk basically told me that they agreed upon $200.00 or something, and then Memnark ended up sending him $94.60 and because Memnark ended up disputing the amount, his paypal account was locked and the funds were held.
With the whole "he was raiding, so he says," - Bturk did this when I was speaking to him.
" kept spamming him to get a response and nothing" I actually believe this, due to the lack of time Bturk takes to actually respon to AIM, and if I was selling an account, I basically reply back straight away, it shows you're more receptive and decent enough to spend time and respon to the potential buyer.
That's that. I'm not saying he's a 100% scammer, though just be very careful and think smart when dealing with him.
I'm going to expect a ban as we all know how great these admins are at getting their facts right without being bullheaded, AND, assisting their users

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
[email protected] 7:14 pm
(7:14:33 PM): Hey mate, I
(7:14:47 PM): ll do my best to wake up earlier in the morning and see if you're on
bturk021 7:16 pm
(7:16:21 PM): Great.
(7:16:24 PM): I'll talk to you tomorrow then.
bturk021 7:16 pm
(7:16:47 PM): Night.

(6:19:29 AM): [Offline IM sent 3h and 24m ago] Hey.
(6:19:29 AM): [Offline IM sent 3h and 24m ago] It's 11AM.
(6:19:33 AM): [Offline IM sent 3h and 12m ago] I'm up.
(6:19:33 AM): [Offline IM sent 3h and 12m ago] Get back to me when you're around.
[email protected] 6:20 am
(6:20:08 AM): Hiya
bturk021 6:20 am
(6:20:21 AM): hey
(6:20:32 AM): i literally fell in bed after we got off of ventrilo
(6:20:40 AM): so i wasn't around
[email protected] 6:20 am
(6:20:40 AM): Yeah kool
[email protected] 6:22 am
(6:22:26 AM): So once I pay via WU, it will give me a number that you can check to see if it's available to pick up correct?
bturk021 6:22 am
(6:22:34 AM): Yes.
(6:22:37 AM): There is a MTCN #
(6:22:41 AM): It's a 10 digit number.
(6:22:52 AM): It'll be on the receipt (or e-mail) or confirmation page.
[email protected] 6:23 am
(6:23:18 AM): Right, and you can check that asap yeah?
bturk021 6:23 am
(6:23:43 AM): Yes.
[email protected] 6:24 am
(6:24:09 AM): If that is the case, then how come you couldn't have done that last night?
bturk021 6:25 am
(6:25:30 AM): Because the website won't let you authorize payments until 8AM EST.
(6:25:38 AM): Also, I had no store to go to.
[email protected] 6:27 am
(6:27:42 AM): Yeah...sorry man.
bturk021 6:27 am
(6:27:52 AM): If you go to www.westernunion.com and click the Tracking button on top next to About us / Find an agent
(6:27:59 AM): That is where you can verify if funds were sent or not.
[email protected] 6:30 am
(6:30:22 AM): http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260531011233&ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT
(6:30:27 AM): I just sold that rogue, on ebay
