windows 8 question

Hello all,

I been boxing games fore ever but looking into buying a new laptop and come across a few topics that almost all gamers hate widows 8

I have 3 new alienware laptops and was going to try out the Asus G750Jw but everywhere I look it only comes with windows 8.
The question is why is it gamers hate windows 8? is it as bad as everyone says it is?

Some reasons:
1: Buggy
2: Microsoft has stopped dealing with some game vendors in windows 8
3: Issues with start menu

It's cheaper then Windows 7 because it's less popular

Windows 8 should generally work fine for gaming but, it's a better bet to stick with 7.

W8 would be passable for a tablet but it is terrible for a PC.

I use Windows 8 for gaming everyday and if anything I have less issues than I did with windows 7.. Just install "Startisback" and voila!

Stay with windows 7, my friend just got a new windows 8 laptop and he has been having problems everyday (games wont launch etc)

Windows 7 is definitely a better choice, I can't stand the Metro and using faux start menus just give the same experience.

You can always install windows 7 yourself after you purchase it, so I wouldn't limit your choice of laptops based on the preinstalled os

It's down to personal preference, really. I recently installed it and have had no issues at all... not even while gaming.

windows 8 isn't that good, get windows 8.1.
I was also a hater of windows 8 but after I got 8.1 on my ssd I was so happy, it is really fast and works really good with games.

Windows 8.1 is okay. You have the option to boot up in Desktop mode now, which is nice. I just don't like how they constantly try to get your attention on their App Store..

I personally prefer windows 8 now that i use a lot. Just use whatever you prefer.

tbh i got a w 8.1 laptop n have had no real issues with any games... except older out of date games but that is not windows fault...

I'm using Windows 8, it takes some getting used to. And if you don't like it you can always install windows 7 again.

windows 8 here no problems on my side. i play thousands of games from top of line watch dogs to old C&C. never seen 1 issue with 8. i love 8. all the people that hate are just those dumbasses that hate change and want to act superior. just like those who didnt wanna update your apple phones to the new ios. your a loser if you think this.

Windows 8 gives you an extra gaming boost I've heard. Plus, if you can get it why not? I'd say it's worth getting use to, you don't want to be that one guy in three years who still uses win7.

Windows 8 has many compatibility issues.
I myself tried windows 8, noticed the FPS drop in many games, reinstalled windows 7.
Windows 8 is only for tablets and tablets only.

Windows 8 does fine with gaming. Updating to 8.1 helps with a lot of hardware issues and you can easily remove the Metro Start with an application.

There is basically no difference between win 8.1 and win 7 regarding performance.

Windows 8.1 turned out to be more user friendly and it has some new implemented stuff on it ,and it also uses less resources than 7.

Well i think it's no use arguing about it since they will release new OS this autumn.
