Wildstar will be subscription based + F2P

Carbine just revealed that Wildstar will have a monthly subscription, but also has a system similar to Eve Online where players can exchange in-game gold for CREDD (PLEX in eve onlie) which can then be exchanged for game-time.

There's also an upfront purchase to buy the actual game, so it's not free there either.

No prices have been revealed, but I assume its going to be the normal $50 and $15/month combo.

Personally I think it's a horrible decision and in my mind all but seals the deal that Wildstar is going to bomb. If SWTOR couldn't swing a subscription Wildstar has no chance even with a F2P option from the start. This game is going break the record for fastest transition from subscription to F2P.

I have to agree. While the gameplay was solid enough to awe me somewhat, a sub game it is not. It does not even come close to FFXIV (which imo is the best mmo coming out)

With EQNext footage out as well, wildstar may be fun for abit. With a sub though I will be uninterested.

I went from being super excited about Wildstar to not really caring.

In an incredibly saturated gaming market I just cannot see subscription based MMO's with no built-in franchise followers succeeding.

Subscription based models have no room in my gaming book anymore, Wildstar meets trashcan.

It's a good game but like other said not worth a subscription. Sucks ;(
