Quite recently, last night actually, I had an account closed for an unknown reason. I had purchased this account off of a guy, and when I logged on the next day the account had been closed. I hadn't recieved an e-mail from Blizzard, so I was really confused.
After attempting to pull my payment (because I figured he could regain access as he was the OO), and having paypal close the case in favour of the seller, I got pretty angry. As soon as I found out, I contacted the seller and found out the real story:
What really happened is, while trying to sell his account and showing interested buyers, Blizzard had been tracking the varieties of different IP's that had visited his characters WoW Armory page. And once seeing the change in IP's on his account, and the change of personal info they jumped on the case and closed his account. (This information recieved by person from Blizzard support over the phone.)
What to do:
Instead of linking armorys, insist on showing in-game. If the buyer is really interested they will not mind going through the extra trouble for the security of the account.
