Verifying Cell Phone vs. Land Phone

Not Recently Bumped
eh, ive done probably 10 or so trades/buy/sell things through MD, and ive noticed, that if they are willing to give you a phone number, and actually talk to you over the phone for more then 10 minutes, then they 80% wont scam you.

Most of the scammers are quite lazy, and have only a couple tricks up their sleeves, if they find its too hard to scam you, or you are smart, they just wont reply to youre messages, or talk with you anymore, even if its something they really want.

Agreed.

In addition to this I just don't want to give out my house phone to someone I don't know. I don't know who I'm dealing with and if something went badly I don't want them phoning my house phone that other people besides myself use. I'll happily give out a cell phone number though, i've just met some weird people throughout all the trades i've done and am not willing to risk my privacy over it. The amount of security 'precautions' that are expected already make it hard to maintain some anonymity. This isn't to say that I don't agree with using the phone for trades, it's something I ask for every time.

I find Cell numbers to be at a higher fraud rate. Alot of younger people will only give out there cell numbers, that way after they scam you They will either ignore your call, Block the number, or just tell you off.

Where as if they give you there home phone number, more than likely one of there parents will eventually answer the phone where you can explain what happened and they will get into trouble. Though I have still experienced fraud thru home phone numbers as well.

I have a verification system I use which allows me to track the number they call from, gives me there location, ip address, etc. This way i can match it back and make sure 100% its not a stolen account. I still face the possibliltes of chargebacks, but most of the time when they know i have all that information they dont try to do it. I also cancel any orders where people are using Proxys.

I dont really trade WOW accounts at all, but i sell a few here and there. Using my system i have cut back on fraud a good 99%

Land lines are easier to trace, but don't forget you can ALWAYS trace a cell phone back to it's user. It may cost more money, but it's always possible. Hell, even if they change their phone number, you can still get phone records on him if you speak to the right people and have the right amount of dough.
