Transferring characters from one account to another.

So a few years back I sold my account to a player which had two characters on it. He transferred them to two different and separate accounts that didn't match my name. I don't know what kind of problems he may have had, but I know that he didn't put the accounts in my name, but he eventually faxed Blizzard his drivers license for proof of identity.
So I think that doesn't go along with requiring the accounts to be in the same name, right?

My question is when I purchase a character on an account that isn't in my name and I want to transfer and/or secure it, the usual way is to create an account that has the same name as the account you just purchased from the OO, then transfer the character?

There's no way of getting that character on an account with your name without trouble?

Its my understanding that when transferring characters from account to account the last names must match but first names don't matter. I've never done it myself but read it on here somewhere. The only way to change a name on the account would be a parent wanting to put the account in their son/daughter's name like on the form below. The thing to keep in mind when doing this is the oo could still easily recall cause it not gonna change the fact that the character was created on a different account.

Yes, the last name anyway. Unless you happen to find a unmerged account that can be attached to any BNET account

Oh ya, I created another account like 3 years ago, and I never upgraded it, and pretty much forgot about it. I just retrieved it, and it's unmerged.

So....how does this allow me to bypass the name requirement? I don't fully understand.

There is no such thing anymore. To create a wow account now you have to go through BNET. A unmerged account would be one that was made before BNET exsisted.
