Thread subscriptions have received an update today to make it easier for members to follow threads and get notified when there's a new reply.

  • Subscription page updated - The subscription page now lists the Forum section, views and reply counter for each thread. Members can also sort by forum title.
  • New Notification - When a subscribed thread has a new reply, you will get an on-site notification saying "X new thread replies". Clicking that link will take you to your subscription page where you'll be able to see what threads have new replies.
  • Subscription Button - At the top right of every thread is a new "Subscribe/Unsubscribe" button so you can quickly add or remove threads from your subscription list.

This should make it very easy for buyers and sellers to keep track of all their important threads and see when any have a new reply.

As always if you have any suggestions or spot a bug, please post here to let me know.

Bug: For some reason the 'unsubscribe' button in threads is not working. We'll have this fixed soon. You can still unsubscribe from the subscription page.

is their a possible way to not use this option at all? I personally don't like it, because I had 20+ Followed threads etc.

Do you mean you want to turn off the notification? If you have 20 subscribed threads, wouldn't you want to be notified when one of them has a new reply?

I'm fine with the tab on the left, I think thats perfect, I personally don't want a red box every time someone replys on a thread i posted on, get where I'm coming from?

I only do not like it because I am getting notified of threads I did not specifically subscribe too, but am automatically subscribed to, by posting in it as a Mod that is a lot of threads. Is it possible to unsubscribe from all threads and go back and subscribe to only ones I want? Or turn it off completely as an option. I like just getting it for messages, moderation and likes.

you can just delete all subscribed threads which I was forced to do since I had 27 pages of subscribed threads.

Open the subscriptions folder and at the bottom there will be a button saying 'empty current folder'.

To prevent automatically subscribing to threads when you make a post, go to General settings and change Default Thread Subscription Mode to Do not subscribe.

Then you can only subscribe to the ones you want using the new subscribe button.

oh okay I was not sure if empty folder would unsubscribe. I have 9k+ threads in there was nervous..

Thank you. It was driving me bananas trying to figure that out.

Not really the issue of having a lot of threads, issue is for me at least having a red box appear, old system was perfect imo

Just as doomed said. It's quite annoying to receive notifications of threads I did not specifically subscribe to.
While I'd still want this feature, I think it would be better if that red box ONLY appeared if someone replies to you by either pressing "Reply" or "Reply With Quote". I've been waiting for something similar for a while.

We're going to make a few changes

1) Option to receive no on-site notification for those that want their threads in the sidebar only.

2) The default subscription mode will be updated so it's only enabled for new threads created by the member, not for replies. This way you won't have hundreds of threads on your subscribe list. You can still subscribe to other member's threads, you'll just have to click the new 'Subscribe' button.

We should have these updates ready within 48 hrs.

The default setting no longer creates a subscription if you reply to a thread. Only if you create a new thread.

It seems that bumping threads using the bump option can sometimes cause a notification for new posts to show up, though it happened only once once (few mins ago) and I was not able to reproduce it.

Im unable to replicate it either. We'll see if anyone else reports this type of issue.

Maybe your bumped a thread and their was also a new reply at the same time to one of your other threads and you thought the bump caused the notification?

No, there were only 2 threads in my subscription list and one of them got bumped, while the other did not have new replies.

The notification lingered for about one minute and there was no way to remove it. I opened the thread that got bumped 2-3 times, but it still didn't go a way. It disappeared by itself after a minute.

Got the notification stuck again, after bumping my threads:

It's still stuck after 5 mins.

I subscribed to your thread to see if it happens to me also. I also subscribed to a bunch of other threads to try to replicate it. We'll see how it goes over the next day or two.

Why I didn't get any email notification when a post i'm subscribed in has it's price lowered????!!! It's so useless when I really need it!!
