Sorry for the downtime

Sorry for the downtime guys. Was trying to undo changes from the CMS install and ended up causing some redirect loop that crashed the server. Normally it would only take a second to realize and fix, but Vbulletin has a special type of redirect hell for anyone that want to edit it's default settings.

Strangely it didn't start happening until about an hour after I finished the edits, so I had no idea which edit was causing the loop. There's about a half dozen options that need to be edited, some in files others in admin settings so it took some time to figure out. On top of that the site and server took about 2 mins per page load so needless to say that's why it took me 3 hrs to fix.

Now that my desire to shoot myself in the head has passed, I think I'm going to go have launch and drink. Hopefully nothing breaks while I'm away.

Update: The site has been under an unusual DOS attack since Saturday afternoon. It hasn't been consistent, but is the reason for the downtime. I had thought it was something I did, so I was busy checking Vbulletin and not the server itself. We are now working on blocking the attack and hopefully will be back to normal soon.

The PM database error has been fixed, but I'm not sure about the slowness. We're still not 100% positive what the issue is and it seems to be sporadic, so it's difficult to test. I've turned the forums back on for now, but there's still the possibility of them being turned of later today.

its good to be back online even if i end up going to bed in 2 hours :P i just realised how boring my day is without this place lol

EpicNPC logo no longer is clickable, should be an easy fix though.

The site has been under an unusual DOS attack since Saturday afternoon. It hasn't been consistent, but is the reason for the downtime. I had thought it was something I did since I was actively working on the site when it happened and since it's not a normal DOS attack my host provider missed it also. We are now working on blocking the attack and hopefully will be back to normal soon.

If I can help let me now. Just PM me details or give me a call 706-614-6865 (Mike)

I can talk to my professor at school and see what precautions we can take, maybe devise a honeynet to determine the DDoS, find out who it is (dependent on proxy) determine the attack. If I cant figure out I am sure one of my professors can. I would love to redirect the attack back at the attacker with a worm :)

Just a heads up, site is still incredibly slow at all hours of the day.

Not sure who you're hosted with, but if they are still having issues figuring it out, I'd recommend looking for a new host. Any hosts I've dealt with for my sites would have at least switched the site to a new server while the attack can be dealt with.

Good luck, hope it's resolved soon as the site is basically unusable for me.

I wish you people would read .

The site has been under DoS attacks. They are working on getting these attacks blocked. It has nothing to do with the speed or quality of the host.

Yesterday we began blocking entire countries due to the attack and these include China, Russia and about a half dozen others since about 80% of the attacks are coming from there.

The IP country blocks will remain until the attack is over, then will be removed, but I will not be making an announcement when we do that. So for the next day and X days after you will see slightly lower traffic due to many members from Asia not being able to reach the site.

The good news is that 85% of our members and visitors are not effected by this and can use the forums as normal.

This must be North Korea's doing!
