I saw a video on MD detailing the latest scam, a potential buyer using account/password given from a seller to let them test the account but associating it with the new bnet account system to completely gain control over it.
I called Blizzard customer service today to ask if I could put some sort of hold/block on my WoW account so that it can never/temporarily be associated with the new battle.net system and they said NO.
Other things of note she said:
No character transfers outside of each WoW account for 30 days.
No character transfers outside of your battle.net account EVER
The above-mentioned scam is reversible and she had been doing them all day. (direct contradiction to what was said in the MD video)
So my question is thus, since I cannot attach a bnet account to my WoW account myself in order to prevent such hijacking (because then I wouldn't be able to sell my characters like I plan on doing) and I cannot stop others from doing so (common trading practice is to give out account/pass to potential buyers to have them test it out), what should I do?
At this point it is looking like I shouldn't associate them because that will limit my character xferring, selling abilities dramatically. However it seems I am leaving myself vulnerable so I'd like you guys' thoughts on this.
What is the point of this new battlenet system thing anyways, it seems kinda pointless.
