Describe how they were scammed:

TL;DR I'm writing this for the sake of completion and for any other members curious about what's going on. Please skip directly to the proof if you don't care to read it.

Disclaimer: The following is a detailed description of how the scam took place and if anything needs verification I can gladly provide public links. But rather than list source after source, this will make the process easier.

The EGS administrator, Monarch, is rarely checking up on EGS so it's quite easy for a staff member to pull off a major scam. Since the EGS administrator is a scammer himself, it has generally put the volunteer EGS staff between a rock and a hard place. As you can imagine, there's quick turnover. The EGS Middlemen are supposed to be paid, but the EGS admin rarely gets around to it. So it's also assumed to be a non-paid position by EGS members. There has not been any substantial evidence the EGS admin scammed any members other than not paying the official Middlemen what is promised. As a result, this opens up big opportunities for corrupt EGS staff and scammers.

The EGS Super Moderator dave1980 was working directly with a notorious scammer known as Heroes. Even before this huge scam, dave1980 had a questionable history. He was banned for scamming D2JSP and had deleted 2 EGS threads accusing him of scamming.

This all started when I originally discovered notorious scammer: EGS: Overated online and unbanned on 12/14/11, but the earliest evidence found was on 12/9/11. Scammers were unbanned, negative feedback removed and threads accusing them deleted. Coincidentally, everyone being unbanned belonged to Heroes. They'd perform a quick scam and were instantly banned again. When I brought this up to Super Moderator dave1980, he had no clue how it was happening. I requested dave1980 issue a warning to the EGS community for the major security breach, but he declined as he would be banned by the admin if he did.

EGS: leonmcain pastes a chat between himself and dave1980. Turns out dave1980 is aware there is a scammer on the site, but does not ban him. dave1980 says, "Look, if people play it safe then scammers cant scam. If I ban them they make a new name and scam again. If I dont ban them then I can keep tabs on them" dave1980 doesn't claim any part of the conversation is fake. A horrible foreshadow of things to come.

The major scam was just to conduct as many "normal" Middleman transactions at once. Delete the threads after goods were delivered, ban users and delete all their posts. EGS: FFXI Gil was the only official EGS Middleman at the time. But somehow dave1980 was able to convince traders to be their Middleman. Normally payment is sent to the seller, but in these scams dave1980 served as the WU recipient. dave1980 had denied all wrongdoing on Virtual FAQs before he was banned there. I estimate around $5000+ was scammed.

Proof

A lot of evidence was deleted by the EGS Super Moderator. So let's just focus on these 2 WU receipts for now.

I have the First and Last name of victims. You can enter that info in the WU website to show the info is not photoshopped and David Martin picked up the cash.

This is EGS: dave1980 aka MMB: dave1980 posting on Virtual FAQs. I'm an admin there and the registration email used is the same as his Trust Who. Also his attitude and knowledge in his posts are mirrored in EGS: dave1980. I ask him about the WU transactions, and he ignores it. I will continue to work with the victims to see if they were ever compensated or they can post here with your permission.

The other transactions will be harder to provide proof since most posts were deleted. Some are unbanned now so they may be able to access their EGS private messages. If an adequate defense is provided for these 2 WU transactions, which I doubt, I can add more proof.

Even now, dave1980 continues to claim innocence.

Additional Information
######################
Did you do any background searching before the transaction? He's a EGS Super Moderator, but not the official Middleman. He just suddenly started doing MM transactions. But who would question a Super Moderator.
Have you traded with this person before?
Approximately how many transactions have you done on MMOBay? Not done on MMOBay

Thank you for your help MMOBay. Although Super Moderator dave1980 was banned, I cannot say for sure how safe EGS is to trade.
