This will probably make me look a total moron but i've giving up my dignity to try and get some advice and possibly the thing i've been after.

Scam 1: [email protected]
Asked for: 80 Euros via PayPal (Disappeared Offline) (I disputed and got the money back)
Appeared 2 Weeks Later
Asked for: £65 via Moneybookers (Disappeared Offline (Can't dispute, still waiting to see if he returns)

Sadly I was that desperate for the warrior he promised..which was:
The World of Warcraft Armory - Mezy @ Frostwhisper - Profile
If you know the owner or know the character in game, any help would be appreciated. Apparently been active 13th July.

Scam 2: [email protected]
Asked For: 30 euros For WoW Cd keys (3) via PayPal. (Askedme to open/close a dispute to ensure I was genuine)
Didnt disappear offline, just didnt give me anything, except to tell me what he was going to spend my money on.

Scam 3: [email protected]
Asked for: $30 via PayPal for Cd keys (Disappeared Offline)
Made a paypal dispute, the guy gave madeup delivery figures. Not sure which way paypal gave it too.

Scam 4: [email protected]
Didn't ask for anything, was a guy interested in my WOTLK account, and made out like the one he gave me the details too was his. It wasnt, but me him and OO were talking, convinced the OO to swap accounts with "dan" acting as MM. He got the details to both the accounts and disappeared. The other guy luckily didnt lose his account but I did. I got it back thanks to blizzard but yesterday he somehow got it back without ID etc. Sent a mail to blizz to ban/reset it, and let me change the SQA.

Scam 5: [email protected] (Not confirmed yet, was only last night)
Asked for: My 80 Warrior to be transferred to a new account in exchange for classic unmerged WoW Account. Once transfer was complete(just before my main account was hacked) I havent seen him on msn and I do not know his characters name.

Sadly this is my experience, flames are welcome as i wont learn otherwise, but advice for what to do would be excellent. Or offers for 60 twink accounts from genuine people even better (warrior/paladin only)

If anyone (including mmobay) would like anymore information about the scammers I have a full convo history (full as it can be when your system resets 2-3 times a day when your doing important things) from MSN to hopefully help other people, who I have no doubt are far more intelligent than me.

Best wishes,

Your best bet would be to file a scammed accusation three in the scammers forum. We'll see how we can help from there.

Never ever ever ever open/close a dispute on Paypal. That pretty much 99% guarantees that they are trying to scam you. It's like knowingly telling a person they can't have the receipt for an item that is defective...

Also, it is usually 85% safer to trade with someone who is TWV/repped vs someone with 0-5 rep and non-TWV. Although I've seen maybe 1-2 people with TWV who became scammers, almost all of my trades/sales/purchases with TWV/repped people have turned out to be very successful. The scammers tend to be people who have zero/little rep, a low post count, a picture on their profile, and a screenname that has to do about WOW. Like seriously, who talks to their friends on a screenname that is named "wowmvp2000"? Those people tend to be scammers.

I'm not sure why you used a middleman for when you are trading accounts with another person? I'm assuming "dan" is not very high repped/TWV... so by adding him as a MM, you are increasing the risks of a scam occurring.

The general lesson is, think ahead and how a scammer will try to fool you. You have to think about it from a scammer's point of view to avoid being scammed, if that makes sense.

He wasnt an MM, he was a friend of the other guy that tried to scam us both. I'd love to deal with TWV/repped people but none seem to have what im looking for. Its just so frustrating. I'd appreciate it if people could keep an eye out for any repped/TWV people who deal in classic twinks.

Read through my Safe Buy/Sell/Trade guide to get familiar with some of the more common scams that you will see on this site when you navigate around transactions. It is located in my signature below.

As for your transactions; here are the following things I suggest:

1) Don't put yourself in a position of desperation or hurridness. Like anything in life, the more you hurry, the more prone you are to making a mistake.

2) You have to consider a cynnical methodology to your transactions. Trust no one until they can prove that they are legitimate; and even then, don't let your guard down.

3) Always, always, always deal with people who are willing to call you via a LandLine number or provide you details of who they are and where they live. Even then, always confirm if that's the case. I've had people give me fake addresses which I was able to easily put off after a quick phone call to the landline registered to said address after calling 411.

4) I highly suggest taking a look at the MM services that are offered on the boards. These people are some of the most trustworthy users and you can always ask how they organize and what type of service the provide for you. It will undoubtebly be worth the $10-$25 that you will end up paying for services that can help you prevent losses.

While a store telling you to buy things from them is a good idea if you want to pay a premium, TJP gives much better ways to avoid scammers.

You can be guaranteed that a set of cd keys for $30 is a scam or stolen. I didn't say my store, I don't really care about selling cd keys. He keeps wondering why he's getting ripped off, but the economics of what he is trying to do is simply not going to happen.

While TJP's suggestions are great advice especially the first two, which can be applied to just about any life situation, the second two are not. Landlines can be reproduced with ease, and the middleman services offered here, while sound in theory, can be fooled with ease as well.

My point stands, your best bet for CD keys are simply going to game stop and buying them. Yes, there are plenty of online stores that offer them, I wasn't promoting our store, (which does not focus on selling cd keys), just saying in general that is how you keep from getting ripped off.

Accounts I would say TGS yes, although I didn't.

Your best bet is to just make a new account yourself and level with RaF. 90% of people who sell accounts are scammers.

Yes, listen to this new user who knows.

The OP clearly is a glass half full kind of guy. Those offers all reek of desperation since they are all too good to be true.

Landlines can be reproduced but it's still a GREAT way to get rid of a huge number of scammers by refusing to deal with them without a phone call. You'd be surprised how many "that user has signed off" you get demanding that.

But in short, just be more cautious and realize that while you can find deals, no one sells Kingslayer toons for 30$.

I did eventually buy from guy4game and they were great. But most stores like that do not stock the 60s I am looking for you. Yes I was too hurried. I've managed to a find a great account with a great seller. Sadly my current issues are drop rates and blizzards blatant "trial" failure, where you cant do anything which is ruining the game for me now.

I do not expect to find kingslayers for $30 as I intensely dislike WOTLK. Everyone makes mistakes, my common sense left me for abit.

Thank you for all the useful advice. i've taken a few bits to heart and tried it whilst trying to sell my wotlk account. So im hoping I may be lucky soon.

Thumbs up for all the genuine people left on the Internet.
