Rank images updated

We updated our rank images today with new, smaller rank badges!

The reason for this change is to shrink down the user profile area in posts. Members who had 3+ stacked badges ended up with a lot of dead space in their posts, which caused more scrolling for everyone else. This change allows for up to 5 badges to appear on one line.

We are still processing user accounts, so you might still see the old badges in many posts. It should complete within 10-15 mins.

I have to say, this has made Thread Profiles look a hell of a lot tidier.

Just wondering, will the Groups be aligned on Profile Pages as well?

Also, could I possible have my 'User Title' set to my Staff Title? Thank you!


P.S: Could we potentially have the Staff Badges and Professional Premium changed to the Group Colors?

It seems user titles are reseted again or its just temporary ?

Before you could be "read" easily, any user knew who he/she was dealing with.If i got it right now they gotta scroll the whole page to the bottom for the future legend for badges...That i`d change though.

At least if possible make it when u move cursor on badges a floating text appears or something as im afraid ppl wont know to go to the bottom of page to check u up

User titles were reset for everyone, but I made a change to the "change user title" item and it's unlimited use now . Anyone with that item can change the title as many times as they want now.

yes, we are going to add hover text at the same time the usergroup legend is updated. 1-2 days.

Perfect then, the way i see prolly in this case maybe that legend at the bottom of the page isnt really needed anymore i guess.

The icons look pretty nice.

There is one problem though and that is not knowing what they mean, since they no longer have titles. Members who are familiar with the the ranks will not have a problem, but new members will be clueless. Plus they don't even have an easy way to find their meaning. They would all look the same to them and this could potentially even increase scam rates.

I'd suggest adding a tooltip on mouse over for each of the the icons, which would show the name and possibly a short description too.

It's a nice update. But, I agree with The integrity.
We need tohave a legend. Also, should be nice to have another another format for Mods/Forum mods since they are really different user kind.

But that will be an interesting update

Ahhh, but you didn't purchase your username color.

I don't mind buying if I need to, but if it gets implemented, I don't want to of wasted the change.

For me it seems nice but I am afraid that the buyers can be scared in buying here because of not enough info of the seller. It was more easу for new members to know who the seller is with a title on icon, but now they will need to search what that icon means and for some of them that can be hard (someone won't search it). With previous rank images it looked more safe and seriously for the buyers (new visitors here) i think. The advantage of the sellers was in this images, but now they all seem the same for new visitors here.
Anyway the other updates will be finished in 2 days, i believe it must seem better with it soon.

Hover text for each rank icon will be added soon and we're also going to update the usergroup legend on the homepage to include the icons as well. This should make it easy for everyone to see what the icons mean.

Definetely a downgrade in terms of value for some badges. For example "Trusted badge" had pretty huge value for me before, it made you stand out, now its just meh. I dont think people will bother to look up something like that in the legend or even mouse over it, i mean some will, but most will not.

I feel the worth of the badges outweigh the scrolling needed to get to the next post. This can be mitigated by condensing in other ways. Or even returning the original badges, but condensing their size with effort into not losing their readability and identity. Just a thought.

I like the new changes to the badges and they also make Threads and Profiles look a whole lot cleaner. I think that Members should still have the urge to earn 'Trusted Seller' as it still makes you stand out to the crowd. I was thinking, maybe have the option to enable/disable certain badges that you'd like to be on display on your Account? Say if you ONLY use one for example: Trusted, you could then change your User Title to 'Trusted Seller'.

These are just my own person opinions/suggestions, so others may/will think different.

I like the idea of having one badge stand out.

If you could select one to be your primary, it would use the old image and change your user title to it. And below it can be the rest of the badges in the current format.

It looks good and feels good but people wil not know what is what. The power of a word can not be mitigated to a image. They say a image speaks a 1000 words but that is not the case with this. This speaks a 1000 words of WTF is that!

I really like the idea to make old badges smaller size, if it's possible, but i think it will be hard to see letters on it

Simple and easy design that doesn't take much space. I like it!
Still hoping for a function that makes it able for the member to get more information regarding that badge by moving the mouse cursor on top of the badge.

Well that's an alternative but these who who already have 4+ badges and already have the Trust badge and either a Mod-S-mod-Admin i think it would be to go back to the up-down row as it wouldn't be space left for a single left-right row unless Admin extend the side layout where the badges, avatars are located.
As these kind of badges you suggested is double the size of on the current displayed ones.

Maybe still could work as a left-right row for the badges but the bigger ones below the smaller badges.
Would have to be two rows then.

A function that allows the member get information by just moving the mouse cursor on top of the badge would be the best solution.

But hey just my opinion!

The badges are setup to save space so that 5 can appear in one row. Currently 6 is the most anyone can have and there's only a handful of members that have 6, but a lot have 5. If we add more space or increase the size of the images, it will push the 5 image to a second line which I don't want to do. Sorry.

That said, hover text is being added to the rank icons as I type this. I will take about 20 more mins to complete the update, but you'll start to see hover text appear in some members profiles now and in all profiles once it finishes.

Yes that's fair Mike. One row left to right looks more simple and better then what it did in the past (up to down) imo.
I'm happy the hover text could be added already, will indeed be so much easier for newer members to understand the different badges.
