Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has an idea on how google chrome determines your location even with VPN enabled

I've tried VPN (like an actual software running on windows and not a google chrome extenstion) I've tried incognito tabs, I've changed my PC's region to US and it still doesn't work. Whenever I go to gmail.com or live.com (hotmail) - it gives me the Russian version of the website. Now I understand that I'm from Ukraine and it gives me the Russian version, but how does it know that? Does google chrome bypass any VPN settings?

The VPN I'm using is Private Internet Access (I will try to buy another one to see if it makes any difference)

I've tried it on Microsoft Edge with Romanian/German VPN and when I go to gmail.com it shows me the page in Romanian/German, but no matter what I do with GOOGLE CHROME it just somehow knows my location and opens it in Russian by default.

I would be really grateful to anyone who could explain to me how I can trick the chrome browser and to make sure it opens gmail or other services in the language that is based on my VPN IP.

My only guess is that chrome has some strong ways to determine if you're using VPN or not and if they match a VPN they just switch it to your real location, though I have no idea how they have access to that.

Chrome with German VPN - Edge with German VPN -
I need the Chrome to behave the same way Edge does, since Chrome is my main browser.
What's also funny is that google shows me the page in Russian, though my IP and location is Ukraine, and even without VPN it still shows me page in Russian despite GMAIL being available in Ukrainian as well

Any help/advice is appreciated ;)

I think I had similar issues back when i could buy wow items in Argentinian currency for real cheap. The track real location through other methods too.

Try this

Google Chrome
  1. Click the Chrome menu button on the browser toolbar (with the 3 horizontal lines).
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Click on Show advanced settings.
  4. In the 'Privacy' section, click Content settings.
  5. In the dialog that appears, scroll down to the 'Location' section and select Do not allow any site to track your physical location.

I've downloaded Firefox. Firefox unlike Chrome, shows the GMAIL page in UKRAINIAN, and when VPN is turned on also matches the language of the VPN country.

No matter what I do with Chrome it just shows Russian version of the gmail website with or without VPN (tried in both Incognito and normal tabs)

web rtc
browser fingerprint. Read about how make 'anon' firefox portable browser. Easier buy vds/vps and make openvpn server. Those vpn clientw very bad, better use public proxy in 2019

Did you tried to clean browser cookies and data before you connect with VPN?
I tried in incognito tab which means it doesn't load cookies/cache and it still doesn't work.

It's just weird that Edge and Firefox are both working as they should, and they hide/show my location whenever I want them to

There are 2 ways :
-Dns LEAKS (most likely)
-Supercookies

browser fingerprint - this extension (when I allowed it in Incognito tabs) is doing some magic. Now the language in gmail.com is being matched to my IP

Thank you so much good sir ;)
