Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has an idea on how google chrome determines your location even with VPN enabled
I've tried VPN (like an actual software running on windows and not a google chrome extenstion) I've tried incognito tabs, I've changed my PC's region to US and it still doesn't work. Whenever I go to gmail.com or live.com (hotmail) - it gives me the Russian version of the website. Now I understand that I'm from Ukraine and it gives me the Russian version, but how does it know that? Does google chrome bypass any VPN settings?
The VPN I'm using is Private Internet Access (I will try to buy another one to see if it makes any difference)
I've tried it on Microsoft Edge with Romanian/German VPN and when I go to gmail.com it shows me the page in Romanian/German, but no matter what I do with GOOGLE CHROME it just somehow knows my location and opens it in Russian by default.
I would be really grateful to anyone who could explain to me how I can trick the chrome browser and to make sure it opens gmail or other services in the language that is based on my VPN IP.
My only guess is that chrome has some strong ways to determine if you're using VPN or not and if they match a VPN they just switch it to your real location, though I have no idea how they have access to that.
Chrome with German VPN - Edge with German VPN -
I need the Chrome to behave the same way Edge does, since Chrome is my main browser.
What's also funny is that google shows me the page in Russian, though my IP and location is Ukraine, and even without VPN it still shows me page in Russian despite GMAIL being available in Ukrainian as well
Any help/advice is appreciated
