What's wrong with unverified LoL accounts ?

There are two types of unverified LoL accounts due to an update Riot made some time ago, new and old accounts.

For new accounts the password and email can't be changed if the account is unverified. This means if you're selling a new unverified account it's not secure and can't be secured. If the seller is the legit owner, there is no reason why they can't verify the email to secure the account before selling it. Because of this, there is no reason why a new unverified account should ever be sold.

For old accounts the password and email can still be changed, even though it's unverified. However, when you are buying an old unverified account, again their is no reason why the seller can't verify the email before the sale to make it a verified account.

Since there is no reason why a legit seller should have an unverified account, the rule was added.

I'm guessing because there more likely *******, and there is no difference between un-verified and verified as you can recover the account regardless, happened to me before

I tested this and confirmed myself 2 days ago by creating a new NA account that was unverified. I was unable to change the password or email.

I retested now with a new LoL account and I'm unable to change the password or email.

Says "incorrect password" even though using the same password allows me to log into the account.

I'm not sure about this update as people who have websites that have the auto sending info to your email they have no way of changing the info if its verified, as I have bought some before, from oge I have bought before I was able to change the info and same with Riley I bought it was unverified and I used the password provided to change the info, you just have the know the password to change the email and password if its unverified if you don't have that info you are not able to change it.

You have to log in on the game client and make a summoner name

Okay, I'll have to download LoL and test further to see if it's the summoner that's causing this issue.

I've confirmed that once you create a summoner username, you can change the password and email on unverified accounts.

The rule will be changed to allow some unverified account sales.

Update rule: No League of Legends unverified email accounts, unless the seller is the one that created the account.
