they deserve to be scammed if they don't even check the aim...
beside jackaling him if they still work for kathunx nothing much to do. </div></div>

Something seems so wrong... IMO, Someone needs an IP check - You know quite a bit for a two day MDer.

It is ridiculous...that I wasn't smart enough to check through as many sources as psosible, it really seemed legit to me.

I currently do not have access to my account, and I'm hoping it can be retrieved, but...is there anyone with experience here that's been able to fix this kind of problem?

I know blizzard has protections in place now so that deleted characters can be retrieved and such. But really is it even possible to get my account back? Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, but I am just curious.

Ya, I figured as much, I'm just worried because I havn't had to deal with these sort of things directly before. He has my personal information...but even if he did try to make some case to Blizzard (which most likely he would not) neither he or whoever he tries to sell the account to would really be able to convince Blizzard they are the original owner of the account.

As far as trying to stop him from scamming anyone else on this site, masquerading as one of the site's legitimate buyers, maybe the site owners could make a sticky somewhere to warn new customers about people that are using this kind of angle to scam people.

I'm telling you now, there are tons of TWV members that have impersonators, and codoneckero is probably the the summit of these members. There's like a thread-a-day just about this 'codoneckro' guy taking accounts here and there.

The SAFEST thing you can do when you buy/sell/trade:

1) ALWAYS have the member post in the thread. If they blame their ISP or the site for not allowing them to log in, tell them you'll wait until it sorts out so they can post on your thread.

2) NEVER rush your trades. You are playing with merchandise that is a few hundred dollars, for the most part, so it's not worth trying to get rid of your account the first day if you've put in hundreds of hours into it.

3) If you are contacting a member, copy/paste their AIM, never try to type it in and mess up.

4) If they come up with any fishy excuses, and even people with a bit of rep do so, then just walk away. I've had, on three different occasions, I've had people tell me they were moving and that they needed to get the trade done tonight... blah blah blah. And when I refused to rush into it, they were saying that they think their computer might not be unpacked tomorrow and how it could go down then. It's these types of stories you want to avoid.

You can get your account back if you call up Blizzard. You will need the name and sqa in order to do anything.

And get them to private message you here on MD, or post in the thread. If everyone just asked this fake "codeneckero" guy to do that, then his scam would fall on it's face!

I had a real life friend sell me his account cheap, and in turn sold it to a china man and he ended up scamming me, and usually I am wise to these things, but I guess I fell through the cracks. If I call Blizzard up with the secret q & a and the last known email, if it is shared with my Main account e-mail, is there a good chance I can still get access restored?

Just fill out the form online. Blizzard knows what signs to look out for if your toon has been taken over by a chinaman farmer and they will restore the account to you.
