Is it a possible scam on the way?

Hi everyone, I am fairly new in the whole web trading content but so far I haven't been scammed due to me being very careful when something seems fishy.

So, I got an email from someone wanting to purchase an eve account from me that I have put for sale here for awhile, but ended up canceling due to no interest.
Anyways he sounded very interested and went straight on to asking for payment details, which I gave him, and told him I only accept paypal gift as payment method. He was okay with that and stated he was going to proceed with the payment.. 10 minutes later I got another email from stating that he was having trouble paying as a gift since (according to him) paypal would have to make a phone call to his mobile (which is something that I never heard of) and he lost his mobile number somehow, and wento on to ask me for an invoice on pp.

Now, I've read about all these invoice scams just by searching on google and that was obviously a big warning sign to me. I confronted him with that and he sounded to still be interested in purchasing the character and would make an effort to get his mobile number back so he could pay via gift.

What you guys think, does paypal asks you for your mobile when you send money via gift? I have never done it so I dunno but it sounds fishy to me.

No, never have I heard of PayPal asking for a mobile number. For one, its not safe selling virtual goods on PayPal. The only even remotely safe way is to accept a gift, he should not have a problem doing that. It sounds to me like a sneaky way to trick you out of your account. Try and get a username from him on EpicNPC or another contact address like AIM or Skype. If he claims he doesn't have an account, he more than likely isn't a legit buyer.

Yea, thought as much.. I just sent him an email asking for his username but I doubt he will even aswer.
