This post will give you an awesome leveling build for the Elementalist in Guild Wars 2. This profession can be a little bit tricky if you are getting started so this video and guide should help:
Weapons:
Primary: Staff (or alternate preferred weapon)
Since the elementalist has no ability to switch weapons in combat, you’ll typically have to choose the best weapon for the situation ahead of time. Staff is the “safest” of the weapons, with long range and heavy AOE skills and enough survivability to get by. Daggers provide great burst damage, but are more risky, and scepters fall somewhere in between.
Healing & Utilities:
Glyph of Elemental Harmony is your best choice for healing spells, and also provides a boon on use based on your attunement.
You can easily adapt your utilities to suit certain combat situations, but in general the most effective setup will be:
Arcane Shield – a great early survivability skill.
Arcane Power – causes your next 5 attacks to deal critical damage. Great for increasing general damage output. You can use Signet of Fire until you reach the second level of utilities if necessary.
Signet of Air – passively increases your movement speed and blinds an enemy on use. Great for both survivability and increasing your leveling speed by reducing time spent traveling.
Glyph of Elementals – a solid elite skill for all situations. Replace with a racial ability if you prefer.
Traits:
Arcana – the first tree you’ll want to fill out. Increases boon duration and reduces the cooldown on changing attunements. The effects you pick up from this tree are some of the best in the entire set of elementalist’s traits.
Earth Magic – the second tree to fill out. Increases your toughness and condition damage. This will help mitigate your massive squishiness.
Fire Magic – the third tree you will fill out. Adds power and condition duration and some useful damage effects.
