Basically, I sold my account and went out bought the game again, created a new one in the same name. Will this one be banned along with the one I sold?

no, they treat it as a seperate account and as long as you arent doing stuff with the botter aka same guild or w.e you will be fine bascailly have no contact with your old chars whatsovever.
