I recently sold a warcraft account for a decent amount of money. Lets say for discussion purposes $500.00usd.

The guy I sold this too seems to be a very nice guy, don't they all. We talked over vent and msn but never over the phone. Have also had some sort of discussion via email.

The transaction went very smooth. I purchased a new account for the character that he purchased, paid for the transfer to his requested server and all that jazz. I kept in contact with him via MSN pretty constantly asking him how he likes it. He said he loved it and was very happy. At that point I transferred the cash from my pay pal to my bank account ( we are both verified ) At this time everything seemed like it was perfect. Out of nervousness I removed the bank account from my pay pal, after I had transferred it, so that if the money was recalled I didn't go negative in my bank account and have to pay the bank fees.

Today I talked to him for a bit and he said he was still really happy, had some small nerve issues about a high end guild laughing at him for not knowing how to play the character at a level that he obviously should have been able too.

Then a few hours later I received an email from his pay pal email account asking if he could return the account to me in return for the cash. He also offered to give me 100 bucks in order to cover the 75 or so for the game and transfer + 25 for my time. Obviously he is being very nice about the whole situation.
The thing is though,
A: I no longer have the money and
B: I would rather not have to go threw the issue of contacting blizzard and trying to convince them that the player hacked me, somehow found out my last name, bought a new account transferred it all and potentially get the account completely banned and no profit in my pocket.

So my questions are basically what could happen here? What could he actually file as a claim with pay pal. The issues I could see him filing for is

A: never receiving the Item.
B: Not as he had expected.

Would the email conversation hold up if he decided to say he never received the item?

I would contact Pay pal, but I don't know how to go about it, and don't really want to mess up and have them revert the sale without a complaint in the first place.

If worst comes to worst and they do reward him with the cash, and the account I guess, could they potentially go into my bank account and retrieve the money? or would I just be negative in my pay pal?

The most common way that people recall money is to make an unauthorized PayPal claim, saying that it wasn't them that paid you (ie. their account got hacked.) The odds are strongly against you to win this dispute as PayPal notoriously favors the buyer. The funds will come out of your PayPal account but not your bank account, leaving your PayPal in the negative and often locked until you pay back the deficit.

Would that stand up, even with the email and msn conversation logs?

Also is there anything I could do now, before he actually files a claim, to prevent such from happening?

I don't believe that log files count as admissible evidence, when dealing with the dispute of non tangible goods theres very little proof you can provide that they'll except.
I don't know of anything you can do at this point to prevent him from attempting to issue a charge back.

Thanks for your response once again, kevs. If other people around this site are as helpful as you are it may be worth my time to look more around the community and maybe invest some time in it.

You arent walmart.. Tell him you don't offer refunds. Let him file a dispute, he won't win if he actually initiated the payment.
