Hello,
There are many ways to impersonate a person on Discord. Here are some of the example:

IMPORTANT - FAKE SetsunaEpic with Invisible Characters

Fake Paypal: [email protected]

1. Lower Case vs Capital Case
If your discord has Capital Letter, higher chance that your buyer will get scammed
SetsunaEpic#6279 -> Real Discord & setsunaepic#6279 -> Scammer Discord are two different Discord Tags. Don't mistake Capital and no Capital is the same. Higher chance your buyer never knows and enters the lower case which directly to the Scammer.

2. Fake Characters

I look around and found this website that you can check a discord tag that faking English alphabet to impersonate someone Discord Tag. You can Control +F and Search my name. Only My name highlighted.

Seems very useful, but many people are lazy and will not take time to check, especially new people.
Definitely something to keep in mind though :)

Thanks for sharing this handy checker @SetsunaEpic, I’ll be sure to pass it along. 😉

@SetsunaEpic I want to share a story with you why I use special characters despite not being a scammer.
Back in 2017, this Swedish user called legitfamalan was going around private messaging my Discord friends with my parent's address and harrassing me.
My friends got him banned in Discord. Ever since then I have been changing my username to special characters. Having special characters in your username does not mean that you are a scammer. It makes it harder to ping you, and some users like to have special characters because it's creative.

Hey @scarredbutalive,

I don’t think that was the intention here. The general premise around special characters is the use or application around an already well known or established trader that does not use it. This tool can be utilized to help validate ID’s to make sure you are communicating with the right person. There are many sellers that use special characters here, so it’s best to copy their names directly from their forum listings and add them that way, and confirm who you are talking to on site. That said, it is recommended to stay on EpicNPC for all communication.

its not the special character thats the problem its the intent of special character to pretend to be someone else.

I was also ripped off by this guy. What a bad taste in my mouth this one left. Lack of security. I lost $188 to these scammers. I better keep working on the other website that when they buy from me they give me invoice and all the security. Of course he takes 10% of what I sell. But I prefer the security. Before the scam. Unfortunately when I was going to take the photos for my tests the guy deleted everything. Thank you for your attention

Sorry to hear that @jabontrozo, for more information what to look for when trading on EpicNPC, I’d recommend giving this thread a read:

Thanks a lot for this post.
It helped me identified a scammer today, who I almost would‘ve sold my RSL account to. (Valued at 799)
Here were the red flags - hope this helps others.

1) Contacted/communication only via discord
2) Wanted to avoid MM service from EpicNPC, instead use „the only mod he trusts and that owes some favors“ - also only via discord
3) character checker revealed a fake character
4) using typical time pressure tactics „Either we do this now or I‘m off“
5) Telling me I‘m acting to cautiously
6) stating „usually people give me goods first cause I‘m trusted moderator“
7) General things that contradict OP - adding on discord as friend, buying RSL
