Curious about Discord's latest changes

I know that EpicNPC has a chat option so that you're directly connected to the seller/buyer, so will that be required for transactions from now on so that people don't end up getting scammed just in case if a scammer wants to take your username on Discord? Or, will it be up to the seller's discretion whether or not to use Discord in the first place?

(Also, this might be the wrong forum for this, and if it is, I'd like to apologize for that.)

It's strongly recommended to use the on-site chat and not go off-site for trading. It's not forbidden, but no support would be offered if you go offsite and get scammed.

Discord's username change is great and will help a lot in reducing scams and impersonations. It comes close to how skype used to work, with a login username and a display name. Although it's much better, it's still not suitable for trading, since those login usernames are not permanent. They can be changed at any time. We still wouldn't be able to use those usernames to link to members here. Someone could scam you and just change both their username and display name.

Since the new username can only contain alphanumeric characters with dots and underscores (same as Instagram) and is not case sensitive, it would be much easier to identify impersonators. But the fact that it can be changed is still a major issues so I don't think anything would change regarding how we treat discord.
