Conversations update - Fast messages!

We made a major update to the conversation system to allow for nearly instant updates, no more page reloading! Members can see when the other party is typing and new messages will appear almost instantly without having to refresh the page

Update: An update has been made to the chat with the following changes and fixes.

• Sound notification option added - You can enable this to get a sound notifications when a new message is received. However the chat must be opened in one of your browser tabs.
• New "currently viewing" feature - This will show you if the other people in the chat currently have the chat open in their browser.
• Bug fix related to "unread" inbox notifications. If you receive a new message and already have the chat open, it will not appear as "unread" anymore in your inbox.

Could be just me, but i just noticed that the new message didn't load a smile that was on it, and instead showed the sender and an empty message next to it.

Could you test it?

And also if you are on the same page and messages are popping up, it still shows them as unread in the inbox.

I'm unable to replicate any problems with using smilies. If I add smiles, the message is still received and the smiles display. Are you using the smilies from our toolbar?

I wasn't using them, I received a message with a smile, but to me it loaded without smile, just an empty message. After reloading the page I saw the smile.

I still can't replicate it. I see he posted 2 posts with the same thumbs up icon. Did the empty message happen both times or just once?

I don't like that it forces the page to scroll down on every new message. It's annoying and makes it hard to read previous messages.

Maybe instead of scrolling, just show a regular floating notification. That in addition to the sound is enough to let me know that there's a new message. The page should only scroll by itself it the tab/window is not in focus.

That's really only a problem if you're afk and the person sends a few messages, but I get your point. We'll come up with something.

Holy ty! Been using MM the last few days and damn is this such a huge feature to add! Everything is severely smoother than before when you factor out the f1 spamming in conversations...

If the chat is in an in-active tab, we disabled auto-scroll. This way when you click the tab, it remains at the last message you read and you can then scroll down to read all the new messages. I thought the complain was that inactive tabs would scroll down, then the user wouldn't remember what the last read message was? This way, it stays at the last read message.

If the chat is in the active tab, it should not scroll. If I'm not already at the last message, then I'm probably reading some older message and a new one would interrupt me by forcing the scroll. If it doesn't scroll and gives a notification instead, I'll know that I have a new message, without being interrupted. This is probably only an issue with TG conversations, where I occasionally need to look at older messages.

If it's in an inactive tab, it should scroll so that I can see the message when I check back. If I'm afk and/or don't hear the sound, I'll not know about the new message (since inbox wouldn't light up either) if it's in an inactive tab, unless it scrolls itself so I see it when checking that tab.

A bit of an annoying thing for both sellers and MM in the TG chat is that you don't see transaction update buttons unless you refresh the pages. Is it possible to somehow fix it or write a script that would refresh the page whenever fee is paid/seller updated the status?

For example if im in a TG trade where the fee isn't paid - i will not see the update status button unless i refresh the page, even though i receive a message in the chat that fee is paid.
