contract to help protect against fraud?

Would it be practical to ask for a private contract between you and the person you are dealing with? a contract that states what was sold/traded and has a physical signature for both parties to keep? this signature would have to match the name on any account being sold, or paypal account being used? I'm just wondering if this is a good idea to prevent fraud. two contracts would be sent to the other party and one would be sent back via mail, this would then have a mailing address you can confirm as well as signature.
