Confused ---> Paypal safe? Sell Account

Hey guys,

I am worried because I don't know what to do. I want to sell a account but after I read through everything here I can't really understand if paypal is safe for me. I saw that the gift option isn't safe anymore or the "request gift" is gone, too. How about donations?

Well the only concern I have is about credit cards. If a guy uses a credit card to pay me on paypal via gift they can still get money back by contacting credit card company etc. Can he also do it if he charged his paypal Account with his bank? Can I ask the guy to provide screenshots that he used his own money by transfering money from his bank to paypal and then that he used this money on paypal to pay me?

I am not sure anymore even to tell him to use gift because I saw other posts saying, intangible good, services are more safe and others saying that its not. Can anyone help me to get things clear? I also saw people telling moneybookers doesn't do chargebacks but also that they do if the issue isn't 1 week old.

Thank you for your time

Greetings

the only truly safe option in dealing with money is WU or moneygram and not to release any account info till the cash is in your hands. however, most people will only use that option if you are a long time member with exemplary history cause it is the most dangerous for the buyer.

while paypal isnt the safest, there are things you can do to limit your risk. do background checks on people. google search skype and user names. only deal with repped members or epic verified members. get verified yourself. these things do not protect you 100%, but they do help limit risk.

I once attempted to buy car parts online from a person that turned out to be a scammer. I had sent him the money as a PayPal gift, and he never sent the items. Since it was a "gift" transaction, Paypal would not take any action. I called my bank however, and they were willing to reverse the transaction after reviewing text messages and emails between the seller and me. Long story short, there are ways to charge back a Paypal gift and some unscrupulous people may take advantage of them.

I been reading up a lot on about paypal through digital trades and it is pretty risky if a scammer is targeting you. However, that's not to say a person who may seem legit ends up charging back a month or so later. I think the only way I would feel safe with handling paypal in digital trades would be having the middleman transferring it from his account to yours. Of course there are various others ways I'm assuming having the buyer use Prepaid Paypal and send the code to the middleman and the middleman sends that to you. That or taking prepaid cards in general which they are unable to get it back. And the other way stated in the guide about actually sending a tangible good with information they can contact you so you know it is the legit buyer and send them the information afterwards. But I probably would not ever think to do a trade with paypal without a middle man unless it is a very reputable person.

For digital goods and services you have to do your due diligence with the buyer / seller to minimize the risk of a poor trade. WU or simply MoneyPak are safer for the seller, but for a buyer it adds risk to them as they have no recovery method in case a scam goes the other way. Try sticking with buyers who have a proven feedback, and are EpicNPC verified.

I have had to deal with a good few charge backs and it is hit and miss as to the outcome. If they pay by Credit Card through Paypal, they have 2 chances at reversing the charge. One through the CC Company and the other through PayPal.

Unfortunately if the buyer initiates a charge back, PayPal tends to side with the buyer as you are dealing with virtual goods/services/intangible goods. You can improve your chances by responding with evidence when PayPal requests it. If they pay by credit card, the buyer can also contact their card provider and claim a charge back. I have had to do this when buying an account that was not delivered and I won. I have also charged back straight through PayPal for non-delivery and won. Now if the buyer funded the transaction from the bank and initiates a charge back, these tend to go in favor of the buyer as well.

What it boils down to is what you are selling is not actually your property, it belongs to the game account creators. You can argue that you are selling a service, ie; your time spent getting the account to were it is, but again this comes under virtual goods/services/intangible goods and is not covered by seller protection.

So in short, if you are buying then PayPal isn't too bad and you are pretty likely to win a charge back (in my experience I have won all my charge back requests as a BUYER). If you are a seller, there are no guarantees and it can be quite risky.

I agree with Sooni, a middleman makes things safer and the more established ones are very experienced when it comes to scam attempts.

If you are legit, gift cards can work quite well if there is something you want from Amazon/iTunes/Playstore/PSN etc. Once you have redeemed the gift code, there is practically nothing they can do. A lot of people don't like to trade in these however, in case the seller is a scammer and won't deliver the account. If you are dealing in gift cards, you'll want to redeem them first and trade once you actually have the credit.

These are just my experiences, I am just an unlucky sole who has been scammed a lot in the past.

Good Luck.
