Im new to actually selling things here and i was wondering if there were steps i could take to lessen the chance of something i sell from being charged back via paypal
does paypal offer protection yet for digital items?

any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

Hey :),

Here's a horror story for you, very sad also: https://www.epicnpc.com/threads/1138041-Paypal-Chargeback-by-Jamidoo

PayPal rarely sides with the seller from all the threads I've read. The person has a big window to chargeback, 180 days iirc? I say that but I recently sold a WoT account, basically I'm not moving that money until after 2017 so I'm sure it really is mine, although I used a ID verified guy on EpicNPC and he has feedback etc etc

As the famous saying in EvE Online goes "don't fly what you cannot afford to lose" and I'd say the same here, go into this allowing that someday down the line it will happen.. save money for that rainy day in PayPal so you're not spending money you could be chargeback'd on. If you made 50 sales in 1 year worth 2,000$ leave yourself at least 400$ in your pocket ready to fix anyone who puts you in the red.

To minimize it happening, look for people who have feedback.. look for people who have their ID on file with Epicnpc like myself, read through some of their posts if you are really paranoid to get a judge on their character but really that last one is not so useful, people can change when money is involved.

Look at the scam threads on EpicNPC, you'll notice it's very very rare to find Skrill chargebacks etc because PayPal is more like gambling if you get the money vs actually having it. Thousands of transactions regarding digital goods go through fine but all it takes is a few bad big transactions to put you in trouble. So to sum it all up: Reduce it by going only with reputable people on here to begin with, build a float of cash and then deal with the grey names.. the grey names are going to involve more risk because they have less to lose.

In my head the person would see me less likely to scam because my ID is on file here, then again I could be a complete donkey and not give a damn but .. I'm less likely to give someone my ID and then scam on their site right? makes sense in my head at least :P again calculated risk.. I'm just less of a risk than someone without their ID on file, see what I'm getting at? :)

Make good decisions and goodluck :D

I recommend using Trade Guardian, it provides item and payment guarantee and protects against chargebacks.

Credits can be used for trading only, basically you trade your items/account for credits, then you can use those credits to trade for the items you want . Since credits can't be chargeback, it offers a easy and safe way to trade. Plus it's free to use, we don't charge a fee.

Or you can use Bitcoin instead which allows payments to be widthdrawn after the sale is complete. This has a 3% fee.

Note that everything posted regarding "trusted" members here is completely irrelevant when it comes to "trusted" members "scamquitting" or from someone hacking a "trusted" person's account. There's basically no way to defend from that besides the usual precautions one takes (i.e. verifying receipt of goods) to increase the chances of winning a PP dispute.

yes bitcoins is a universal crypto currency.

You do not even need a website and can collect money in an app on your computer called a wallet.
There are a ton of crypto currencies. this is the most valuable and stable and widely used.
