Ok to my Understanding if you give your account name and pass to someone just to take a look at your account . He can use battle.net to change the account last name to his . Then your scammed , can't send blizzard your id anymore to recover the account .

WOW Please every 1 comment on this =

To my knowledge you get a email saying: "Click here if you did not do this" I am not positive but this may be one way to stop it.

From what I understand with battle.net you can't change your last name on the account you can only change the login name. And I believe its not an easy process to be able to just up and change it when your given the login password to an account being that you have to create a new battle.net for that account - that is if they haven't already. Because if they had its bound to that account no changing it.

At the same time the new battle.net system seems to be a decent form of security if an account hasn't had a battle.net registered to it yet. Because if it hasn't you can change the login with a battle.net you created

Nope you don't get no e-mail with a link just a message saying you linked the account.

Although you can still call blizzard say you were keylogged, state your SQ/A last name and e-mail that was on the account before it was battle.net merged with and they will be able to restore it without a problem...

The only difference with battle.net is you CAN NOT recall the account online you must do it on the phone.

This is what i have learnt of battle.net over the last few days from first hand experiences.

Hope that helps.

Spazzy.

I was personally scammed thisd way just the other day. The guy wanted to test drive my account and the next thing I knew my account was now a Battlenet acount and i could not login. The best way to avoid this scam is to make sure your account is already a Battlenet account. Its quick and easy to do. This way No one can simply switch it to their battlenet. So I would merge your accounts to Battlenet before doing any trading. That is what I have done. Its funny because I have gotten a few guys that said "Do you want to test eachothers accounts?" (after I made a Battlenet .)I said sure and told them that my account is already a Battlenet so dont try scammming. The next thing ya know they dont want to trade anymore. HMMMM I wonder what they were planning on doing.

Ok i did my research And this is the last note from me -

#1 ALL Markee members that trade or sell or even buy services . You need to make a battlenet account found @ - http://www.battle.net/

And here is the useful information i got -

Create a Battle.net account
https://us.battle.net/account/creation/landing.xml?rhtml=true

Information for account traders: When completing a transaction or transferring ownership of a World of Warcraft account you will now need to ask the other party if the World of Warcraft account has been merged with a Battle.net account. You will then need to collect the details for BOTH the World of Warcraft and Battle.net account.

Battle.net Account Scams
When merging a World of Warcraft account with a Battle.net account the only pieces of information that Blizzard requires is a username and password for the World of Warcraft account. Once the World of Warcraft account is merged all account changes and updates must be conducted via the Battle.net account. Players will be unable to reset their password or email using their WoW account information; players will need to use their Battle.net information. As the Battle.net information can be different from your WoW information many players are falling victim to hackers obtaining players WoW username and password and merging the stolen WoW account with a new Battle.net account. Once this is completed none of the information on the WoW account can be updated via the account management page as the hacker has the Battle.net information.

What do I do if my account is hacked and merged with a Battle.net account that does not contain my information?
Contact Blizzards Billing & Account Administration at 1-800-592-5499. When connected inform the representative that your World of Warcraft account has been merged with a Battle.net account, inform them you do not have a Battle.net account. The representative will ask you a few authorization questions based on your World of Warcraft account information, the representative will then create a Battle.net account for you with the information you have provided and move your WoW account from its current Battle.net account to the new Battle.net account. You will now have access to your World of Warcraft account.

I've been buying/selling without a battle.net account just fine but also I'm repped so in general people don't screw with me. I did bind one of my accounts to a bnet account and it was really easy to undo it for him. I just called in said I wanted my account unmerged I used all my old account details, everything went fine.

Whats sad is alot of markee members don't even read the HOW not to get scammed posts . And then they come back saying BLA BLA BLA . So to you markee members read anything thats new on all markee forms or posts .

yes some guy took my account with only the account name / password i got it back because i called blizz, but it was a big hassle i needed to get CD keys ad everything. please go to battle.net and get your accounts on there before someone else does!!
