Banned in an online game

If I buy dirty in-game item, and get banned for it, can I request a refund from the seller? The GM told me that the Plex that I obtained from the person that gave me the plex, was not owned by the
person who traded it to me. So not only did I RMT, but im also now can be accused of hacking.

It's a case by case basis usually.

If the person didn't actually own the plex I would open a case against him and provide the GM conversations.

If the GM tells you the plex that was given to you was stolen, the seller MUST provide you a refund. It's possible the person who's plex it was made a false report of it being stolen and is scamming the seller, so if you report it it might not necessarily lead to a ban depending on the evidence provided, but yes a refund would most likely be the outcome.
