$10,000 a month on advertising, how much traffic should that drive in to the website?

Hello,

I was wondering if their is a rule of thumb for bringing in traffic to your website. If I spend $10,000/mo on advertising to drive traffic to my website how much traffic could I expect that bring in?

Thanks

It depends on the keywords. Right now, World of Warcraft keywords cost about $2 per click. Assuming that rate, then you are looking at 5000 potential visitors.

The tricky part gets into where how many visitors, equals a sale. I know peeps who claim 1 of 10 visitors is a sale (thats good), and others who get 1 of 40 (not so good). If you assume 1 in 25 visitors is a sale, then you are looking at 200 sales... but you are also looking at a cost per sale of $50. Now, we know that Amazon.com loses money on the first sale, they make money on the next sales from a customer. If you are ok with that, then it's a great deal, if you can make money on successive sales.

If you plan to spend that much, you might instead be interested in SEO marketting, which can actually be cheaper then advertising directly, or do a combination of the 2. The higher end SEO will cost you around $1500+ a month, the lower end, will cost you around $500 a month. Combine the SEO and advertising, and you will get a good amount of visitors.

Here's a link for the SEO Marketing firm we use, Orange Soda. I recommend getting at least $2k a month with them, and the rest on advertising, you will be happy you did. Advertising gets you to the top of the search engines for the days you advertise, but SEO gets you there for months afterwards.

i wish i made $10,000 a month ~.~

One thing that you should remember about SEO is also your ability to sustain what you have. Blowing $10k per month for 3 months is going to be useless. It would be much more worth your while to maybe give a quick boost of advertising for the first 3 months, say $5-6k per month, then continue at a lower more manageable SEO budget for the rest of the year maybe $1.5 - 3k per month.

Think long term.
