Xfering characters between 2 different bnets

Is this possible? If both bnets have the same last name (account on it that hosts the characters included), can you transfer them off to fresh a fresh wotlk/bnet account?

I'm thinking about knocking off like 5 80s I don't play anymore and was thinking of how to get it done.

i believe the same Last name are needed to be transferred to a fresh battle.net account....
