World of Warcraft's latest expansion, Battle for Azeroth is now available for preorder, and with that comes early access to Allied Races. Allied Races are new races you can choose to create, or you can race change existing characters to them.
If you have already preordered Battle for Azeroth, you can move on to the other prerequisites for unlocking the first 4 available Allied Races.
When you fulfill the prerequisites, you will need to go to the Embassy in either Stormwind if Alliance, or Orgrimmar if Horde. You will be able to look at the available Allied Races and choose which to pursue first. You can only do one at a time, but you can pick the other as soon as you finish the first.
The required rep and quest achievements can be done on any character or faction, but the final quest/scenario must be done on a 110 character of the appropriate faction.
For example: You can complete the Highmountain Tauren rep and quest achievements on an Alliance character, but you must do the unlock quest and scenario on a 110 Horde character.
Below is a list of each currently available race and what you need to unlock them.
Alliance
The two available for alliance are the Lightforged Draenei and Void Elves.
Lightforged Draenei
Once you have chosen to pursue the Lightforged Draenei, you will need to go to the Vindicaar. You must take the portal in Stormwind, which is right outside the embassy, the one in Dalaran or your hearthstone will not work.
Once you are there, you just have to watch the scenes that detail how draenei become Lightforged, then complete a scenario involving you and another draenei completing the trials.
Once you have done this, you unlock the Lightforged Draenei as a playable race, as well as their racial mount, Lightforged Felcrusher.
Void Elf
The Void elf unlock starts with taking a portal that Alleria makes to meet up with her in the Ghostlands. When you get there, you have to go to different locations to learn more about Magister Umbris and where he is now.
Once you finish, you will take a portal to the void, which is the Void Elf starting area. You will need to complete the scenario, which involves fighting void enemies, to unlock Vod elf as a playable race. You will also unlock the Starcursed Voidstrider mount upon completion.
Horde
The two available for the Horde are Nightborne and Highmountain Tauren.
Nightborne
The Nightborne unlock quest starts by telling you to meet Lady Liadrin at Thalyssra's estate in suramar. When you get there, Thalyssra explains why they did not join the Night Elves and the Alliance.
After that you are told to meet in Silvermoon City, the Blood elf capitol, to introduce your potential allies to the Horde. Alleria Windrunner, the Void Elf leader, is there and wants to see the Sunwell. When you take the portal, you start the scenario.
When you get there, her presence accidentally opens a portal to the void and you have to help defeat all the enemies.
At the end of the scenario, Alleria is banished from Silvermoon and the Nightborne formally join the horde. This unlocks them as a playable race and their racial mount, Nightborne Manasaber.
Highmountain Tauren
The Highmountain unlock starts with meeting Baine Bloodhoof at Thunder Bluff, the Tauren capitol. during a meeting with Mayla Highmountain, Spiritwalker Ebonhorn gets gripped by the void and you must defeat shadow enemies.
After the elite enemy is killed, you must go to Thunder totem in Highmountain to meet with Mayla. Once you get there, you have to help Spiritwalker Graysky in as series of quests to heal Spiritwalker Ebonhorn.
Once you've healed him, you have to do another set of quests at highmountain summit that ends with you killing a boss.
After that, you are thanked and can go back to Orgrimmar to turn in the quest and unlock the Highmountain Tauren as a playable race. You will also unlock the Highmountain Thunderhoof mount.
That's all you need to unlock the 4 current Allied Races in World of Warcraft.
